Me and my friend Ainsley are throwing a surprise party for our best friend, Jennifer. It's a Hawaiian theme, and we have part of the guest list, but we don't know how to throw a surprise party... This is all we have:

Before the party, Ainsley is going to take Jennifer to her house, and I'm gonna set the party up at Jennifers.

It's a Hawaiian theme.

Invitations are on Hawaiian flower shaped cards...

That's all... We haven't even cleared it with her mom yet... But her Birthday is February 20...

Does anyone have any suggestions on HOW to throw a surprise party, or just any suggestions?

*****

Oh, and, If y'all would post "birthday greetings" for her, I'm gonna make her a PPT card... yes...

Before you do anything you need to clear things with her mum first, would be a bit of a rubbish party if her parents decide to take her out for the night instead!! :P

Then invite only people you know will be able to keep the secret, make it extremely clear that its a surprise and dont invite them til the last minute to avoid accidents!

Your friend can come up with an excuse that she has her birthday present at her house and drag the birthday girl along while you decorate and set up the party. Try and have everything ready before hand so you only have to put the stuff out. Get a few people to help you too.

Everyone needs to hide somewhere and her mum could phone the birthday girl and tell her she needs to come home straightaway, even making out that she is in trouble if you like! Just to be mean!!

Then you all jump out and yell SURPRISE!!!!

You could get those flower things (sorry dont know what they are called) and hand them out to guests. Make fruit juice cocktails and maybe serve traditional hawaiian food.

Thats all I can come up with, sorry I dont know that much about Hawaii!

They're called Leis. You could make every guest wear a lei and a grass skirt (try looking at a party store to find them both). Serve some kind of tropical punch (red Hawaiian Punch + pineapple juice + Sprite = yum!) make sure you include the paper umbrellas.
You can order Hawaiian pizzas from your favourite pizza place (hawaiian pizzas have pineapples and ham on them).

I've seen some coconut bras in a party store before. You can wear them over your shirts. Maybe the mother of the girl can be a tourist, with an oversized camera, sunscreen on the nose and big novelty sunglasses. This party sounds like fun, but like xjox said, make sure to clear things up with her mom. If not, things can turn disasterous. Depending on how much money you have to spend, you can go from there.

Oh! And I've seen palm tree coolers. It's an inflatable palm tree in a little inflatable bowl-looking...thinger. You put some ice in it and you can put sodas or drinks in there. Plus, maybe some tiki masks? I've seen Tiki Mask plastic cups that would be cute.

Good luck! :D

I say you conference this with me. Schedule a meeting, I know EVERYTHING about parties, they rock!

Heres some ideas:

Host it in the backyard, and put up tiki torches.

Get about a 10 lb bag of sand, pour it on some concret next to a swimming pool(if you have one). If you do not, pour it on concrete or something, and put out blankets, umbrellas, and any imitation or real sea creatures.

For a drink, this is a good recipe:
A pineapple
A 2 liter bottle of haiwain punch
A 2 liter bottle of Sprite
Pineapple juice(any ammount you want)
Ice
Lotsa those little umbrellas.

Mix equal ammounts of sprite and haiwain punch, but go easy on the pineapple juice. use about 1/4 of the total mixture you used for the punch/sprite. And then add ice and the little umbrellas into each glass. Use the pineapple by shaving off the outside, and cut it into rings. Then cut the rings into 1/4s. Make a slice in the middle of the quarter rings down the middle, not all the way, maybe 1/3 the way. Then put it on the glass. You could always alter this recipe, by adding more juice, different juice, more sprite, etc.

If you find any fake grass skirts, buy two or three and cut them so that you can put a "skirt" on the table where the punch is served. ^_^

If you don't have concrete to put the sand on as suggested, perhaps you could put it on a tarp? that might help keep the mess down. Might I suggest a video camera? I threw a small surprise party for my best friend and I went over to her house, we went to the pool in the apartment complex, and then our other friends walked out of a nearby building. The look on her face was priceless ;)

We had a little quiz thingy too, kind of a "Who Knows Her Best" type thing. I totally pwned that quiz.

I had a party for my best friend and I don't know how, but we managed to keep it secret. Loads of people came and all her family were in on it so any rumours that someone might have let slip were squashed by her family. They told her that she was going out for a meal with them and took her to the church hall (her parents are vicars) "to fetch something" and we all jumped out at her and took her picture and let off party poppers. Some of the pictures I've got were classic.

Just make sure you tell her family and make sure you write it in on the invites that no one can even hint at a party whenever Jennifer is around. Put your contact details on them so if anyone has any problems they can phone you, instead of having to risk talking to you in code in school.

Good luck with it and I hope it goes well!

I screamed at my surprise party o.O; hehehe. I knew something was going on, but I didn't know when, heh.

I made my sis scream XD it was awesome. But make sure that everyone is SHHSHH quiet! haha. It's HARD TO DO! and the room gets reeally stuffy (if it's in a small enclosed area) and often the person doesn't come in for a LOONG time. Also make sure that no one leaves anything personal behind where it can be seen. You're lucky it's for a friend, and not a sister. WAY easier, no hassle with planning in front of her^_~ hehe.

Decorate with flowers and hawaiian themed decorations, but make sure that it's not visible through the window or anything.

Bring hawaiian music? lol. Have a costume or something for her to put on after she gets surprised ^_~

And yes, as said above, make SURE that the parents are OK with the party^^* It's WAY easier, and they can pitch in too!

I'm not sure what has been said, and what hasn't o.O; but that's my 2 cents^_^

I threw a surprise party for my friend. :P She was literally crying. She went to the mall to buy her mom (who was having a birthday in the following two weeks) a present. :P She was going to have a small dinner with her parents and she walked in and sat down at this big table (it was big because all the tables are 10 to a table and you sit with people you don't know) and she sat down and we all walked out. :P Priceless.

If you hold it outdoors, make sure that she cannot see the backyard from the outside, or if you light tiki torches that she can see them burning. Also, make sure that it will not rain or be cold if you do so.

I just had a surprise birthday party thrown for me on Sunday. It was under the guise of our regular "Musical of the Month" club. I might post some pictures in a bit, just for fun and ideas.
