I do sort of agree with that. Lots of religions have their own calendars and therefore their own New Year, but we need an at least semi-universal calendar so that when someone says "I'll see you on the 15th of May" the other person knows what they're on about.

Lots of religions that use their own calendar system still have people using the Gregorian system, especially those in business. ;)

Correct me if i'm wrong But if you think about, New years is sort of religious because there is the Chinese New year but i don't know if they celebrate both.

Ok. You're wrong.

Its cultural, but not religious.

I hate it when people are trying to make everything "politically correct", therefore fitting to EVERYONES' religion, even that guy down the street who worships a pad of sticky notes. :P

The Neopets creators are from the UK, over there they tradionally celebrate Christmas. They're not forcing Christianity on you, it's just their holiday.

And it's not like other holidays aren't forgotten! There are lots of "Happy Hannakah!" Neogreetings as well.

People just need to accept that it's a holiday, and you can't destroy it. And besides, what's so bad about somebody wishing you a Merry Christmas? Really? :P

for a lot of people, christmas really isnt that religious and is basicly a time to get together with family, sing corny, annoying songs, and give/get gifts, while other people celebrate as more as a religious holiday celebrating the birth of christ. I think that neo see X-mas as just a fun little get together time more then a religious holiday, even though some people celebrate it for religious reasons. Does that make any sense?

Hear hear. I guess it's like the folks who run out and burn Harry Potter books. No matter how hard you try, *somebody* is going to be offended/outraged these days.

I thought we skipped the annual "Let's Debate Whether Or Not Neopets Should Have Christmas" debate this year.

There's one tradition that I could do without.

Hmm..someone just posted this in the premium board, it's quoted from Neopets Magazine:

Quote:
Q.What exactly is the talk of special sidebars? Someone said that if you get certain ones you get certain random events and certain items. Is any of this true?

A. It is true. The sidebar is the large yellow area down the left-hand side of the Neopets site. On special occasions everyone will have a different theme; for example, we did a winter sidebar for some days in December and a Haunted woods theme for halloween. There are ways that you can unlock these sidebars to have all the time, much the same way as you can collect a specific avatar. If you have one of these special avatars they may affect what happenes to you when you play the site. For example, they might increase your chances of getting a random event, alter how many Neopoints you can earn from particular games, or even affect what areas of the site you can go to. Choosing the sidebars is completely optional though. If you do not want to change, you can stick with the yellow one forever.

So as it appears, they supposedly did work on a winter bar.

Guess it never made it into the open then? o_O
