Hm...not to long ago, earlier today, that number read 105million some. Am I alone in thinking that they are no longer counting frozen accounts?

Heh, what else is new?

I thought they still counted the frozen. Huh, guess it wouldn't make sense. No use counting up members who are in a huge block of ice. Wonder how many of them deserved it?

Hmm. Do they count the inactive ones too? I come on only when a break rolls around.

Come on guys.. let's be honest -- Less total accounts => Less market potential.

Of course there's a mistake and they still count every single account.

That's what I was thinking... I would think they'd count ever account created so it looks like Neopets has more people that log on, which would attract sponsors...

Eh. I did some research over the summer. And neo got like 100 users per second. Which is very unlikely. So, They could be using account generators to make sure their sponsors dont find out their true count. I remember reading some way that neo said they only had about 1million-2million active users.

I would believe that. Not a lot of Neopets players are very active. Everyone I know that plays Neopets (in the REAL world outside of PPT) doesn't get into plots, Neopian Times or anything like that. They log on once a month, feed their pets, play a game or two and leave.

I think it's more like 10-15 Million accounts that are always active

then you can say that any user has anywhere from 1-3 extra accounts. So that's what, roughly 45 Million'ish accounts?

They're getting better, but not true yet.

Indeed and i dont think neo takes that away from the "total owners" count. So, there are many ways to how neo has so many users :p

I tihnk they must have cleaned the databases and eradicated the frozen account because when i searched for mine it says 'this users account does no longer exist'
also there trade investiagtions bureau weredoing an investigation into them. it could be for fair treade theyve demanded that they only now count valid players.

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE...

I don't know what happened, but I still think they're counting the frozen accounts.

Everyone is neglecting to look at the third number: ratio of pets to accounts, which is currently around 1.4 to 1. It's been that way for a long time, and it was that was just a couple of weeks ago.

To have 105 million users, the ratio would have had to jump sharply to 1.2 or so.

My guess is that it was a bug.

P.S. It is worth noting that for most of the last 3 years, that ratio has been SLOWLY decreasing. I think it peaked at around 1.56 pets per user and then went down.
