Ah... the PPT forums, where ALMOST everyone is uber nice.

Argh, some people are just ... beyond annoying, aren't they?

OK, I do go to the battledome and help chats. Battledome I really lurk more than anything, trying to learn, some of the regs there are so funny and it's just safer to not post there yet - I still get called the bad n word at least once if I post a topic asking a question. guess cause I'm not a "reg" ... whatever.

The help chat ... Ah, my kingdom for the days of the hc before avatars, etc. Yes there were beggers, spammers, scammers (oh my!), but they didn't seem to be there in droves. We used to be able to help people and still "chat" with each other without someone coming in yelling that we were spamming, reporting us, sending nasty neomails, etc.

I do help where I can, I also don't even bother posting on the spam/beg/chain letter boards. I try really hard to ignore them. Last night was close to impossible. I think at one point there were about 20 topics ALL asking for a pb! So I just left.

The thing with the boards is, for me, common sense and level of tolerance. If I'm already in a bad mood, I won't go near the boards. It'd be just too tempting to jump into an argument - and we all know arguing online is really a lost cause and a waste of time. And on Neo, it'll get you iced. The common sense part is the ... should I post this? thought. If I have to question something I'm about to type, I don't.

Omni, block your neomail, along with nf requests and items in your chat preferences. That way you won't be getting neomails that end up in an argument. I don't want anything happening to you, especially because someone decided to act all high and mighty -- over jelly?! If they decided to be really mean and report you, they might actually succeed on a technicality - that you had made a new topic, that it was spam, that you were doing a giveaway ... Bleh ... and don't forget that people can and DO doctor reports to make them look worse than they are (if in fact they're bad to begin with). People are just vicious sometimes.

I'd do what a couple of people have suggested - keep a second window open, just lurk (don't post) on the boards and randomly send a jelly to someone who you think really needs it or has been extra nice or something.
