I heard of ad0... I believe he's actually a "professional" hacker and once got sent to court for it. I wouldn't doubt it if he screwed with neopets as a joke that one time, but seriously, why would a great hacker waste time from a pretty much non-profit site?

Anyhow, the article with "my friend was there next to him" is stupid and destroys any credibility the thing had.

Still, I remember when the whole thing happened, and oh, how I larfed.

I honestly don't remember the ad0 thing, I stayed away from the boards when I first signed up, and wasn't affected by it at all. *shrugs* I can only go by what I was told by others, and remember just because someone posts a picture on a website that doesn't mean that is who that person is

I know Ad0. I used to chat with him on hours on end. He hacked neopets because he was dared too. If he wouldnt do it again he would. He doesnt have a problem with it. And for everyone that calls him a script kiddie your wrong. Hes a true hacker.

My friend (as an April Fool's joke) made up the account, featherallley (three L's) and posted once in battle chat the word "hi". My friend was iced in a minute. Didn't swear, didn't post anything bad, just "hi". If there was any draconian system of rules, that silences everyone except the teacher's pets and suck-ups, it is neopets.

If you are a rich player, but complain about the neo-lag, the neo-glitches, the neo-scammers, the neo-nazi monitors, then you will get iced. Why? Cause Neopets doesn't want young kids and new players looking up to these rebellious "role-models". They only want cookie-cutter, plain, happy happy players like featheralley, garet_jaxx, and hrobi. Not rebels like duccatti or v_team who complain about Neopets. No no . . . they can't have people saying ANYTHING bad about neopets . . . there is no free speech in neopets.

Is that favoritism? No kidding. There is tons of favoritism in neoland. The staff restores accounts of players they like, and they ice accounts of players they don't like. It's just the way it is.

A little favoritism, surely. But it is an exaggeration. The featherallley account was frozen probly for fear of scamming (Not exactly unjustified).

Wow, just wow. OK, the person who made that account "as a joke" and got iced almost immediately. Could have been for spamming, could have been seen not as a "joke" but as harrassment or someone trying to scam others using a very recognized name (and not really looking at the extra l in the name). The very well known/famous players are subjected to some of the worst things - people are jealous, they get hated (so silly), people assume they get special treatment. Maybe they do get some special treatment, I don't know. I do know that if someone makes up a user or pet name containing another person's name for the purpose of scamming, impersonating or harrassing they will be frozen.

I had a stalker - once. Still don't know how or why. They made up a pet name almost identical to my username and posted incredibly ugly things on their pet description about me (and they didn't even know me!). I also ended up on a Help Chat hate list on the internet. Those of us (there were 4 pets with names and a whole list on the internet of usernames) who were put upon by this person did mass report, it was for valid reasons. And the person was gone in under an hour.

As to garet, featheralley or hrobi posting anything "negative" on the boards, well I have seen garet complain - justifiably, and he's not frozen is he? Hrobi and Featheralley have both been frozen - whether as a measure to save their account from an attempted hacking I don't know, I wouldn't claim to know.

v_team was frozen, yes - how many people were on that account? My understanding is they were frozen for sharing an account. duccatti, I know that name, I can't remember why that account was frozen.

To ad0. Apparently pet levels were reset, I guess it was a prank? I don't know all what else he did or didn't do. I have heard that he hit Neo more than once, but this was a long time ago. I doubt he's lurking out there just waiting for another chance to hack Neo. If anything, he's probably working for a company showing them how NOT to be hacked! Again, I don't know. None of us really do, unless one of us is ad0 or one of the top players having a finger pointed at them as getting 'special' treatment or being used as an 'example'.

Well TNT didn't stand up and say, "Hey, we got hacked by Ad0!" So most who heard about it was through fan sites, word of mouth, neoboards, ect. That or it was when you drifted away on a river.

Meh, I agree fully that Ad0 is not going to hack Neopets again. No reason to.

I take that personally. The guy who wrote all that above is my friend Dave, who was known as "theseus51" on Neo. He's extremely intelligent. And a very nice guy.

Just so ya'll know...it DID happen, and I did see it. And luckily, I kept my mouth shut, but it totally freaked me out.

Dave didn't "suck" at Neo, far from it...he was one heck of an auction sniper and a name to be reckoned with when in the Auction House. However, unlike me, he decided finally one day to quit....he lost a lot of friends suddenly who were frozen and decided it wasn't worth it...and he quit. I tried to talk him out of it, but he's stubborn.

When he did quit, he decided to go out with a big bang...in happened in October 2003. He set up a time, and had me buy him a ton of paintbrushes. Then he bought them off me (I only charged him at cost) and he spent millions giving away paint brushes, etc. to people on the trades/auctions boards.

Dave wasn't an idot, or was he a lousy player. He's a strong willed guy who quit.
