Actually, that would make it even worse, because then the autobuyers could go back to Ye Olde Days of simply sending the "buy" request and the programmers wouldn't have to write any procedures for "clicking" the special security picture, and thus you would have even MORE autobuyers.
Yeah I agree clicking that photo thing definitely needs to be there otherwise it would be much easier for autobuyers it also gives people more of a chance to get at least one thing (I think)
Ok I see that the piccy needs to stay. But my first question was, is there anything that tnt could conceivably do to get rid of auto buyers altogether?
I only ask cos I know nothing about programming!:P

Exactly my thoughts.
And, it doesn't hurt Neo, it hurts innocent people who obey the rules. The restocker who losses out on the rare item because the autobuyer got it. The person wanting to buy that rare item--but because the autobuyer was caught and his account frozen, that rare item is now sitting in frozen land forever. Which makes the prices of the ones still available go way up. That's why I can't buy a rarity 99 plushie anymore without holding up the Neopian National Bank--because so darned many of them are sitting in autobuyers' frozen accounts.

And really, do we need to be talking about illegal programs in such detail on PPT? Might give someone ideas, you know. Like you aren't "cool" unless you use an autobuyer. Like you can't "make it" unless you use an autobuyer. Which is complete and utter hogwash.
Talk about making me feel like scum! But things like my best friends being hurt helps to make me not go back to ABing so... THank you for making me feel like scum!
Never thought I'd say that...
I think that talking of programs should be banned because it makes it harder for people like me (who have recovered from cheating) to resist temptations...

There are some people with really fast fingers out there either that or autobuyers in the bookshop i swear the second it restocks im so fast yet i miss out

i dunno what it is maybe people with faster fingers than me

i type pretty quick though

Sometimes it is really obvious though when an autobuyer is being used...like when a bunch of the 1337est restockers all don't even get to haggle on the item in question, and it shows up in a 1 monther's trades.
Yes, I realize RS "skills" is only based on pressing numbers in quick succession, and that status means nothing....but it makes you wonder when it happens time and time again

Im not even 1 month and I have more than enough to make you wonder..
legitly :p

I wish I could actually restock! But I'm far too lazy and impatient to actually try...

There is one way you can almost definately prevent autobuyers. Maybe make it that each day (or each hour even), the security changes. What I mean by this is that Day 1, you could have the classic security code, Day 2, you could have the pic, Day 3 you could have a special question.
By changing it over and over again, autobuyers would have a hard time cheating for you.
Ohhh, I don't know if this theory was tried yet, but instead of using pictures and codes and the like, TNT could implement a few questions as well (which they could change once a week or whatever), with very obvious answers. Something like "How many legs does a cat have?" or "What colour is the sky?". And instead of having to type the answer in, you could even have multiple choice answers, which you can just click.
By cycling through these 3 every day, I don't see how autobuyers could ifnd an easy way through. The only difference is that restockers would have to get used to restocking with 3 different systems.

Autobuyers will never be stopped - sorry to say, it's just never gonna happen.

AB'ers are soo bad. I just can't even imagine using one, or cheating on a game in general. It just makes no sense to me.
There is one in toys, magic shop and I think pharmacy. At least that's what the real rs'ers are saying - they're getting NO haggle, things are just disappearing. And these are people with uber high speed internet and great legit rs'ing skills.
I don't even bother trying anymore - I'm on dial up, so there's having pages load slow; the haggle picture - takes awhile to load and I can't just disable images like I used to (so I could at least rs some books), people I'd be going against who have high speed - no way for me to keep up and finally yes, the ab'ers. Why try? If the "elite" rs'ers can't get anything I sure won't.

I actually think that is a great idea. Sort of like the way Neo uses different types of text for the security code on the log-in page. It is never the same text and never the same combo of letters/numbers--so impossible to predict beforehand what will show up.
And, Tonu, I honestly didn't mean to make you feel like scum. I just wanted people to see the other side of the situation. How frustrating it is to have autobuyers to deal with.
We all make mistakes and it is a brave person to admit to them in public. I have the highest hopes that you learned from whatever mistakes you made. Honest.

No, it's a good thing you made me feel like scum! That way I won't be tempted to cheat!
And I don't see why it's such a big deal I admit my mistakes. I know I've changed, and if other people don't want to believe me, well, I really don't care!

I'm actually surprised that Neo hasn't implemented a random restock code that "cycles" - but not on a set schedule. Something like that might be really hard to program, I don't know (tech challenged here), but if it could be done .... I do think it would at least help.
Yes it would be frustrating for the honest people constantly being confronted with something different, but I think they'd deal with that frustration if it meant at least less ab'ing and more a chance to actually get something.
ties Tonu's hands together, then ties them to his chair ... NO NO NO to ab'ers
Thu Dec 30, 2004 3:25 am
There are over a thousand people ABing, there isn't just going to be "one in XXXXXXX" ... theres going to be 50.
Just so we all know

I can confirm the toys and magic thing. It pretty much happens the same time each night too. I'll be getting some pretty good rses, then all of a sudden *everything* starts to disappear without a haggle. There's no way that's happening without an aber. Increased competition or not, I can catch the haggle page. This isn't a person.

can I add book shop to that list?
