Question: How far it is advisable to upgrade the Innate Skills? For Evil and Insane, especially.

Mon Dec 27, 2004 6:47 pm

It's my first time and I've just gotten past the Devilpuss on normal mode. Up until now everything's been a breeze, as I've somehow managed to be overtrained the whole way through the game. I still am a little, currently at level 52.

Ever since I came to Faerieland, I've noticed that suddenly Mipsy, Talenia and Rohane's attacks have gone unstable as anything. Whereas before Rohane's attacks would deal between 70-95 damage virtually every time, and 100+ for critical attacks, they now deal 15-30 damage, often as little as 8, and the critical attacks are around 30-50. Talenia's the same and Mipsy misses more often than she hits, in addition to her Obliterate spell dealing about a third of it's max [nevermind how Astral Maelstrom misses about 50% of the time].

Now is this normal? Does it happen to all? Or is there something I can do stat wise to help my damage output rise again?

Rohane:
Critical Attacks 15
Damage Increase 15
Combat Focus 0
Stunning Strikes 12
Battle Taunt 0
Innate Magic Resistance 2
Innate Melee Haste 7

Mipsy:
Direct Damage 15
Group Direct Damage 15
Group Haste 7
Slowing 0
Damage Shields 4
Innate Melee Defense 1
Innate Casting Haste 9

Talenia:
Increased Bow Damage 15
Multiple Targets 15
Ranged Attacks 1
Shockwave 6
Slowing Strike 0
Innate Magic Resistance 5
Innate Melee Haste 9

Velm does his duties as always, no problem there. Help? o_O

This may be due to the "focus" ability that some of the monsters may have (ie. winged noils and bionic cybunnies). That ability sacrifices attack strength for mor defence strength and resistance. Once they are "focused" (which it should say in a pinkish-purplish color), thier defence is I think doubled while thier attack strength is halved. They become quite annoying later on through faerieland (esp. agains the Techo Blademasters). This may be the problem, but I am unsure if this was the answer you were looking for.

Hmmm, it does explain some of it, but I'm having the problem with unfocused bionic cybunnies too, and the various faeries. :|

Yeah, that happened to me too. the cybunnies seem to somehow make your attacks weaker. Rohane's critical hit for 70ish when the bunnies were there and hit for the normal 170ish when they weren't. the best ides is to focus all your attacks on the focusable one first. Mips can still do 100 damage is you're lucky. she seems the most unaffected by them

WHoa okay, my Rohane has never been able to hir critical hits for more than about 110-120, how do you get as high as 170? Do I need a better weapon or to raise some of the stats I haven't touched? He's currently armed with Sword of Kings [72 dmg] and wearing Defender's Plate [72 def].

And I tried killing off two cybunnies first, leaving the water faerie last and got this:
Messages

Rohane scores a critical hit!
Rohane slashes a corrupted water faerie for 124 damage!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll try to take off cybunnies and focusing enemies first and see if it helps me :)

Why cant I use any reviving potions while fighting the faeries? I had to flee after Rohane died, and there was only the earth faerie left too! I just didnt want Rohane to have a big EXP gap...

You can't ressurect characters during a fight, only afterwards.

Dead characters also come back to life after resting at an Inn. Since there's a free Inn near the Faeries you don't need to use potions to ressurect characters then. Just rest to bring them back for free.

(Okay, so this is a NQ I question, but since there isn't a sticky or thread for the first game, I decided to lump it in with the newer NQ. )

I am playing the first neoquest on Insane. I am at level 32 and in the same room as Archmagus of Roo. All the guides I have read suggest level 34 for fighting him on insane. However, I am getting mighty sick of leveling...especially since it's 6,000 exp between levels right now and the monsters in the room are giving about 75 exp (outside the room is 35-45 exp). I have all the healing potions fully stocked, and have the Nature Wand and Dawnshine generator equipt. Assuming I am still fully stocked on potions once I finally hit 33 (5,000 points to go still), do you think I will be safe to take on Roo...or should I trudge through another level first?

ARRG! I just cant beat Hubrid Nox! He is sooo annoying! WHY didnt I buy more potions??!?!

My first battle lasted about 500 Game seconds before I fled and trained, then I just fled from a battle that was about 600 seconds long. I had terrible luck in that one, I got him in yellow and he "Renewed" three times in a row!

I dont have any speed/slow/damage potions, any hints? (P.S. my party members are all level 48 and I am on Normal Mode)

Have you read the IDNQ boss guide on Hubrid? I skipped him myself... :X

yeah, that was a toughie, i suggest keeping your party hasted with mipsy or by potions and to make sure that KT2 is slowed at all times, also, i had velm keep his shields up all the time as well as healing my other party members. rohane was my main attacker and was just trying to whittle down his HP, mipsy was keeping the party hasted and used obliterate when she or talinia wernt throwing potions. I am by no means an expert on the game, but i hope that helps

YEAH Congratulations!
You have beaten NeoQuest® II on Evil difficulty!
You are awarded a NeoQuest® II trophy...

...as well as 30,000 neopoints!

and i got a Scuzzys Comb YAHOO

I'm headed toward Hubrid on Normal difficulty....but I'm also level 50  and will probably gain another level by the time I get to him...at least for velm and rohane, because for some reason they're like halfway ahead in skill points. I think it's because talinia and mipsy have died before...talinia died when I fought the faeries. rohane never dies and neither does velm, lol. It'll be fun fighting Nox, I have lots of patience as long as I'm not losing ground. muahaha. I can't wait until I beat it and then I can start on Evil difficulty and have fun ranting at raised prices and such.

EDIT: I just beat the Fallen Angel. Having a blast, can't wait until I get to Terask :D
EDIT x2: Wow, these underclouds take FOREVER. I'm at level 53 and I'm not even to the cirrumbomblabowiakhgpwoaihn yet. (or Cumulonimubus, rather). Perhaps it's because I get bored and I go through the whole thing on Hunting mode.
