I downloaded three Evanescence videos on my computer and after watching them, I want to delete them. The problem is, I don't know where they are. I remember it saying they are located in the 'TEMP' folder but when I go there, nothing is shown. It's empty. Any thoughts?

Hey Ammer, you can try doing a windows search (windows key + F is the shortcut) and search 'evanescence' or whatever the title of the video is. If the title is something weird that you dont remember you can search all the files on your computer that have big file sizes...I'm sure music videos are 30+ megabytes so you can specify your search to find files bigger than 30 megs. To do that put in *.* as your search and set your search options to show files bigger than at least 30,000KB... but if you know the format of the movie you can search for *.avi or *.mov or whatever it is... I'm gonna stop here before it gets more complicated :|

If you still haven't found it..make a post and I'll explain it better.

Whenever I try to download something I will get a popup that says "Your current security settings do not allow you to download this program". I tried playing around with my security settings, but no luck yet.

I bought a new computer today and it says on the box that it has 256mb RAM, but when I tried to put my broadband on it said that I only have 192mb RAM, looking in the control panel properties says the same thing, that I only have 192mb RAM. Have I been given the wrong computer at the shop or does it always show different RAM values? Sorry Im a bit confused so this may come across in a confusing message!!

If you have a cable modem then usually it gives you a new IP address when you switch it off from the plug and leave it a few minutes. Next time choose a nice name eh?!?! :P

Sounds like someone put in a 64MB stick instead of a 128MB one. In the rare case of 128+64+64 (or 64+64+64+64, for that matter), you need to check if the RAM modules are attached correctly (firmly) to the motherboard.

Get a different ISP, or connect using some kind of pool-routed dial-up. Cable modems give new internal IPs (which don't make a difference when you're IP banned), and that's no good for your purpose.

Ok I phoned them up and the guy said that there is 256mb on there but the graphics card shares some of the memory so that is why some of it doesnt show up. But he said that it shouldnt make a difference in running things on the pc. Does that sound about right? It makes no sense to me!!:)

It means that you have a built-in graphics card...they're built in to motherboards these days in order to save space and money.

So what happens is that the graphics card, instead of using its own onboard RAM (because it's not a separate piece of equipment) leeches off of your system RAM instead. The number of megabytes of RAM that are listed with your graphics adapter is equal to the amout of system RAM it can use.

There are two possible solutions: one is easy and expensive, one is cheaper, but slightly more difficult.

Solution 1: Buy a new graphics adapter. I'm not sure whether you have a laptop or a desktop - but if you have a desktop, do the following:
-Go to a room without carpeting.
-Remove the cover from your computer.
-Ground yourself by touching the metal frame of the computer.
-See if you have a PCI slot (small) or an ISA (large, and has a little divider towards the end). Whichever you have, go to Best Buy, staples, or whatever and purchase a new graphics card for that particular type. If you have an AGP slot (smallest, and set far back from the back of the computer), you can purchase that type - you're more likely to find an affordable PCI card than anything else. Pop it in, and follow the setup instructions.

Solution 2: Order another RAM stick from your computer manufacturer. This shouldn't be difficult, and it'll be cheaper than the other method. Again, open up the case, ground yourself, and install the new RAM (this is still pretty simple, but if you're not supersure of yourself, shell out 30 bucks to have it done at a PC repair shop).

Some graphics cards let you change. My Intel raggedy one was using 32, and it let me change it to 2mb. :P

well besides what other people mentioned....you might be able to request a new ip from your isp by calling em up...if you have broadband, sometimes your isp will change your ip..usually after a few months but that probably depends on your isp I guess

oh and if you're on dial up..just reconnect to thet net

I had a problem with firefox this morning.....
It said the "default" profile was already in use and I couldn't use it.
So.... I made a new profile.....
"Default Profile"
and I renamed "default" to adam.
I tried "adam" it said it was in use. But "Default Profile" worked.
I had 100's of bookmarks on firefox and a bunch of stuff installed.
How do I get default/adam working again?

Try restarting your PC -- a firefox instance somewhere is still running.

But I clicked "Don't show this message again" by accident thinking it would make my firefox work again....

Hi, guys.

Ever since my comp returned from the repair shop, it's been...different. For instance, occasionally [rarely] it would randomly restart. And my theme got changed to Windows Classic instead of the usual Windows XP theme which I use, and when I tried to change my theme back, the option wouldn't appear sometimes. It's as if the Windows XP theme was wiped out, but only sometimes. Sometimes it would reappear again. Argh, confusing I know.

But anyway, I did a full system virus check, and my comp is clean. What could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Oh, and it turns out the random restarting has something to do with the new CDwriter drive which was newly installed...strange...

EDIT2: Uh, forget it. I reformatted my comp. =/

I've been thinking about getting XP Service Pack 2, but I've heard a lot of bad press about it. What's so bad about it? And should I get it?

Thanks.
