You should go to the doctors, money or no. My mom did that to her thumb, and it took months to get the feeling back. She didn't go to the doctors for exactly the same reason, no money. But she would have fared alot better if it did.

Plus... you were doing woodwork, and that has sharp objects that are like nails that could get rusty, no? You may need a tetnus shot.

I hope your finger gets better soon. I'm sure it hurts alot.

Some kid cut my finger with a piece of a cup he broke when I was lil'.
I still remember all the blood that kept pouring out and it left a scar that I like very much for some weird reason. XD

My parents would'nt take me.. First thing I did, was tell my mom I wanted to go hospitol, and she said no..

Then go yourself. I'm sure getting it stitched up costs less that having it cut off.

As long as the gash isn't too bad you should't have to have it cut off. My friend cut her hand wide open on her lawn mower and it's okay. No hospital or anything, just an ace bandage. Not that I would recommend not going to the doctor's or anything like that. O.O

Judging by the fact that your parents aren't taking you, and by the fact that you're typing quite a bit and posting quite a bit, obviously it is not hurting your typing skills.
Having broken all of my fingers (some more then twice by now), and having been the reciever of a fair number of stitches... I doubt your fingers really all that mangled.

I watched a young man in my class dig down to the bone with a band saw in class. True deep wounds don't stop bleeding for quite awhile.

Not to meniton, that if you've stopped it from bleeding with rubber bands, you could very well have cut off circulation to it, which could lead to severe infection, lack of oxygen to your limb and a number of other problems to go along with it.

I only type with 3 fingers, and I'm using my middle finger, on my right hand, instead of my index.

The bleeding stopped, only when I tied a cotton ball to the slice, with the rubber bands. I took it off, and blood flowed anew.

I.. csnt.. The hospitol is too far away..

And.. I can manage.. I.. Never can go to the docter when need be..

I just make do with home remedies..

It's finall stopped bleeding for the most part, now...One part is still oozing plasma, though...

Even if you have no money, there are free hospitals specifically made for people who have no money or are on public aid. I am sure there is one near you. And if your mother honestly says that she won't take you, she could found be guilty of child neglect.

I lost my 1/4" of my fingertip when it got smashed in a door. I won't get graphic. Let's just say that it was the absolute worst pain I ever experienced. And, I went into shock.

Immediate emergency care was necessary. Surgery so my finger wouldn't look like a stump. Antibiotics for infection. Pain pills (big ones) for the pain. Physical therapy so that I could have feeling in my fingertip again.

You need to see a doctor--or you could end up losing your finger to gangrene.

All I can say is clean it a lot, because it will get infected if you could see the bone.
Trust me, I slammed my pinkey in a transport truck door once, and they couldn't decide whether or not to cut it off or attempt to sew it back on. Even with antibiotics and doctors and stuff, it got infected anyways. So, if your your own doctor, hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alchohol is your friend.
