I agree with her. When I joined 27 months (OK, 2 years. :roll:) Neopets wasn't this commercialized. I could see the plushies, and I could see the card game. But the site has over a million members. Besides, the money doesn't go to the site, it goes to the store and the makers of the plushies and stuffeh.

EDIT - 100TH POST! Yay! I want my 2,000+ back though.

You know, I don't have a problem with neopets. I never run into the major glitches that everyone else seems to encounter. It might be because I stay out of the chat rooms or because I'm completely unknown to everyone, but I've yet to be wrongfully frozen.

This is like blasphemy to most neopets users, but I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks a month if things improved. Neopets wouldn't do that, though, because most people wouldn't pay, and sponsors might be a little more reluctant to pay. But really, some people take things a little too serious. I admit to having a 'backup' account with 1million stashed in it that I never use, but it's still just a game. Maybe they do need to focus a little more on their job, but I get sick and tired of hearing people complaining every day. If you dislike it that much...

And, not to sound rude, but I don't need anyone telling me that I don't know what it was like in the old days and how things were better. I've been around for some three years, I lived a lot of it. I've had to e-mail staff twice in the three years, and both times I got a nice, helpful answer within the same week.

Yeah, it may be just a game- but does that mean that there cannot be room for improvement? Not everyone is like you. Not everyone has gotten polite answers (or even answers at all) from TNT. Not everyone doesn't get errors. It isn't fair to tell us to let it go just because it hasn't happened to you.

I sort of agree with sailor_melody...I have been on Neopets for 2 years, never encounter major glitch, wrongfully frozen, or whatever problems on Neopets....hmm...maybe not as much as what I read here anyway...and I never complian about neopets doing promotions...I think it is fun to add new games now and then...see some familiar things IRL in Neopets. I think the main thing to complain about....would be the inflation.

I've been on Neopets for 3 years, had my first main account wrongfuly frozen for cheating on flash games (My computer lagged sometimes because it was slow, which they saw as cheating....), my new main hacked twice (once by another user, one during the big security glitch), lost a total of 1 mil in NP because of glitches (and that's a lot for someone who hasn't even reached 1 mil at a single point), and had 12 accounts frozen (One main, One spare, and two gallery is all I have left. The two gallery were two of my first frozen, but I thankfully got them back along with a rude email from TNT). I've been through alot, but I've seen a alot of bad things happen to people, which could have been avoided had TNT truly maintained the site.

TNT my have a good site, but letting it get the way it was for a few days not too long ago, allowing a breach of security to last so long on 04\04, not returning items lost in glitches unless the person is famous or a friend, sometimes siding with scammers\hackers, and even going as far as lying about glitches or things of their own fault is going over the line.

I don't know why, but it feels as if TNT, and even Neopets.com itself, is starting to fall apart from within.I just wish they would start caring more about the site instead of stupid TCGs, plushies, and ither real life items.

I want to see it go back to like it was in the old days, when players were helped by real humans working in support, instead of these auto response bots. I want the Freezebots to be toned down a little, so people arn't frozen wrongfuly. I want to see then care about the players, instead of practicly worthless peices of paper and cloth with silly little designs made of green ink on them. That's what I want, and frankly that's what a lot of people want, before they are driven away from a site and game with unlimited potential that could be unleased just by caring about the players. Once the players get what they want, once TNT see that they've made some mistakes in the past and admit to them, once TNT start caring about the players, that's when the true potential of Neopets will be unleased.

Note: I'm sorry about any spelling mistakes. I've been working all day. I'm also sorry if this rant is a little long, but I've just been needing to get that out.

I've been here for awhile and haven't fallen victim to major glitches and the like...

I can say that the problem here can be solved by hiring new, competant staff members to handle plot lines and new events or handling the promotions and marketing portion of neopets. That way things may run a little smoother.

hmm..i can understand the reaction of players like sailor_melody. i was somewhat like that during my first 8 mth in neopets more than 2 years ago.
then, i was relatively new to neopets and was doing excellent as a restocker. i was also doing lotsa neo-policing then, reporting scammers actively and with a fervour. now to those who weren't playing neopets then, restocking used to be very easy for anyone with good discipline where fast internet connection is not really needed. at that time restocks happened at fixed timing and always at the beginning of the minute, so all you have to do is to get the exact time in an hour that a shop will restock and sync your computer clock to run with the neopain clock. there's also no restock ban then and you can refresh as fast and as frequently as you want. there's also no such things as an extra haggle page or a kauvara code then. the reason why i cited the above is to show you how easy it was to restock then and it happened that i got so good at it that i pulled in unbuyable petpets at good speed at that time. i also had lotsa neofriends then, mostly petpet collectors like me.
around that time, i start reading on the neoboards abt players complaining abt getting frozen for stuff they din do and i was always the first to voice my doubt abt their claim openly. i couldn't see why a player would get frozen if they didn't break rules and i assumed they are liar. neopets was perfect to me until that fateful day.
they say all good things come to an end and i supposed that also refers to my wonderful restock days. on a fine day, while i was neomailing with a neofriend, the dreaded neopolicing chia showed up and it took me a while to realise what happened. i emailed support and many others for 6 mths trying to get my account back. the reason cited was "using programs to play neopets". i wasn't playing excellent with flash games then so i assumed they were referring to autobuyers. all the personal response (2 out of many automated ones) were indifferent at best, insulting normally. I remembered Felicia (a neostaff) responding that if i got frozen, i probably deserved it. hence, i got a taste of my own medicine ( when i used to say the same thing to other frozen players, who i believed to be defaming neopets).
at that time, i believe nobody can fault me for changing my whole perspective abt neopets. it didn't change completely but it has become less than perfect. 6 mths later, i rejoined neopets and stumbled upon PPT where i saw another side of neopets. many forum members here tend to have seen the less than perfect side of neopets.
it was perhaps this negative feeling that builds up from such things as wrongful freezing and glitches that flow over to seemingly unhappy response to TNT "branching" out. players were feeling neglected and those who have never been frozen or been on the receiving end of glitches can never really comprehend that, just like "the voice of neopets" that was me b4 i got frozen.
one more thing, what's the worst thing that comes with your account getting frozen? the answer is you will always be regarded as a scammer or a rule-breaker; the suspicion is always there no matter what they say otherwise. recently, for no reasons whatsoever, i decided to make my new identity known to a very old neofriend of mine. she claimed that she was shocked to saw my account frozen and had been trying to contact me since for many mths to no avail (i had left neopets then). she asked for the reason and i said that neopets claimed i was using programs to play neopets. her response was in a half-joking manner:" well, perhaps you were so good at restocking then that they think you were using an autobuyer". well, i never mentioned autobuyers but the link with it was quick. though she would never voice it out, i suspect the doubt abt my innocence is there.
lastly, i dare say that if i was never frozen, neopets would remain perfect and tolerable in my eyes, despite the changes. i would probably never tolerate PPT forums for some of the posts as it would have conflicted with my belief then and i would probably have given my full support to whatever they do, merchandising and all, if i had been treated similarly then.

I really don't care that Neopets has sponsers supporting the site (that's normal for actually any site at all)...what I don't like is how they are pushing the sponsers upon users. Like adding a McDonalds to the Neopia Central map, and having (what I believe to be) more sponser games than Neopets games.
Sure, I think it's perfectly all right and necessary on such a huge site to have occasional sponser programs where you can earn neopoints for signing up with them...but making sponsers a natural addition to the site is not.

I've been frozen. Someone I beat in the battledome started sending me weird e-mails, and I was frozen for inappropriate conduct. (They thought I was having cyber-sex) I e-mailed them and my account was unfrozen within two days.

I ran across a glitch in the trading post that lost me 50k. The person I was trading with was still able to get her items back, but the np I offered was gone. Oh, well.

I've had six accounts in my three years (though not at a time), and that's not counting my sister's old account. I didn't cheat with them, and I never got frozen. The worst thing that ever happened to me was that I forgot my password for an account with 1.5 million in it, and I was never able to get the password back. But I didn't blame neopets, why should they believe me when all I could tell them was that I didn't remember what e-mail I'd used to sign up for it, that I had 1.5 million, and that I owned a couple of stock for SHRX? I'd never paid attention to what items I'd had. All I knew was that I had some codestones, maps, grand lightning beams, and potion in my SDB. We live, we learn.

Things have happened to me, as mentioned above, so it hasn't been easy sailing! I've been warned before, I've been frozen, I've lost more than 1 mil, and I've actually lost the only painted pet I ever owned (baby, back when the paintbrushes were like 200k). But, once again, it's a game. I've more than made up my losses, and I'm quite happy.

Mystique: Yes, I can see how newbie players have that reaction, but I'm definitely not a newbie, even if I haven't been on as long as some of you. I lived the old neopets, I've seen the changes.

But, once again, I'm not trying to be rude. No hard feelings, right? We're all just expressing our opinions, after all.

Mystique, i understand what your saying compleatlly, sevral of my friends have gotten frozen(both have sent in forms, one was frozen just recentlly, and the other a long time ago, but there never giving back her acount, thats already decided) and ya know what? i don't regard either one of them as a scammer and such, because i know they didn't do anything, and i kow you didn't do anything wrong either.
the first one that got frozen first has seanse made a new acount, there was nothing valubal on the frozen one really(it was just annoying, as that was the one she was using for neomailing) but she got over it.
the other one luckly already had another acount, and went to that one instead, and was in a active guild, so she didn't lose any of her neofriends(i was actully one of the first people she neomailed) what sucked for her was, she had been saving for a darigan pb(so she lost all she had.)

personlly, i'm almost waiting for my turn to be frozen, (i'm saving for the same sort of pb. @_@) after hearing all these scam stories, i have a very secure pw, so i'm not worried about people guessing my pw, the #1 thing I'M worried about is freezebots. They search and destroy, see somthing that could be "bad" and bam, your gone. this is the main reason i almost never go on chats, except for my guild(that can't freeze me for bad language ya know, the "worst" word i've ever written on there is suck/sucks, which i see why they'd try and block, but if thats the case, why arin't they blocking damn?) although, i am chaning when i say suck to stink, just in case....

If they do freeze me though, it had better be a non-main acount or i will scream...

but even if i was, i'd probably just move on, it is just a game after all. So, i'll lose a lot of np, ya know what though? i could make it agian. The only thing i would be serisolly upseat about is losing my pets, cause, while ya can re-earn np and items, you can never re-create a pet. :(

it is just a game though, don't get me wrong, i'm not saying you SHOULDN'T be upset about loseing a lot of hard work, but in your future(i was going to say adult life, but some people already are. :D ) life, will anything you did on neopets have an affect on the job you get, the life you live? well, mabye if you continue to either play, or gripe about what happend when you played, but serioslly, will it?

Maybe it's difficult to find competent staff members, though. Or maybe they're just too lazy to search. Idaknow.

It is just a game. We aren't complaining just for our sakes. We want (or at least, I want) to help Neopets improve their site.

I've been on Neopets for 3 years. I've keep well-hidden because I really don't care enough about the site to become super-wealthy, or have 80 trophies or a million battledome points. I've never been frozen. Never fallen victim to glitches. Nothing has affected me personally. I have, however, noticed a lag in the development of the site itself.

I got my neohome when they first came out. I started building immediately. They had promised that we'd be able to actually use these wonderful creations. We've been waiting for quite a long time.

Neoschools items before the actual neoschool?

New games before they've fixed/updated the older ones?

I've suffered less than many people on Neopets...but I can definitely see a change in the site, and it isn't necessarily for the better. And those are probably really crappy examples...but I can't think of many at the moment.

Btw, has anyone sent the link to this topic to TNT? We ought to. Or even compile the comments into an email or petition or something of the sort.

this topic just brings to mind another thing TNT should be aware of all along. actually, they owe their success to the well-being of the website. i am probably not far off by saying that all patrons to their merchandise are players of the site itself. the support they get from the merchandise comes directly from the players. with all the negative feelings induced from such things as unfair freezing and massive glitches, player morale is affected which in turn, affect their sales. i guess neopets has long been aware of this and the recent trend has allowed for powerful battledome item as prize code when buying their products. this leads to another issue..

balance of the game. getting powerful bd item as prizes often means hitting a jackpot. it means there is actually a way to use real money to buy riches in neopia. thus you can get instantly rich by selling off, say..a dull stone axe. this is unbalancing as neopets is making it harder for players to get rich in-game...or maybe this is what they want all along.

Not particularly true. I have a fairly large family, and some 8 cousins who are in love with neopets. Some the happy meals, one saw the neopets magazine and always buys it, and three others just bought the cards because they liked them and got into battling. My best friend has three brothers, and they got into battling with the cards, and they were actually surprised to find out it was an online game. My friend cursed me for telling them, because now she never gets any computer time. :)

Kids see the pretty cards, the pretty plushies, and the pretty illustrations on the magazine cover, and the game itself matters little. All of my cousins got as many of the McDonalds plushies as they could, but none of them has shown any interest in joining. While I, on the other hand, have been pplaying for ages and I only own one little neopets notebook and two of the McDonalds plushies, though one was given to me.

I don't think that any of us who gripe about the Neopets staff mind the sponsor games and such - we understand that the website costs money, bandwidth costs money, staff costs money, rent costs money, ad infinitum.

What I think we don't really understand, and this has never really been explained to us, is where all of that money actually goes.

A year and a half ago, Neopets reported earnings of about fifteen million dollars. This was before the costs of staff, taxes, et cetera, so it will, of course, be reduced by some amount.

This year, I can already tell that there are more sponsors than there were, there are more plushies, more events, more this-that-and-the-other-thing.

There are also more players - when I started, there were only a few million. The site has already ballooned up to more than 60,000,000 accounts. Many of those accounts are frozen, but many more aren't. And a quick view through the neoboards, and the trading post, tells you there are stil a lot of new players.

But the support staff remains the same size. Why is that?

If someone can come up with a logical answer for that, I'll shut up.
