I was wondering if anyone here has tried calling Neopets yet, to be unfrozen. Has it worked?

What's the number by the way, would appreciate it.

I remember a person who called about last year this time. One of his accounts got frozen because he had been refreshing too much in an attempt to get a certain battledome challenger--I don't remember all of the details, however. I do know that he got very unruly with the receptionist--and ended up with all of his accounts frozen after that.

My guess is that others on PPT will remember this person too. I felt sorry for him because his freezing seemed unfair--but I thought his tactics to get his account back were a bit extreme. He was doing a lot of name-calling.

So, I would tread lightly if I were you in making phone calls. It does no good to yell at the receptionist if she is the only way that you can get through to the people who can do something.

And, my guess, is that they have probably gotten so many calls about frozen accounts that they have a system down pat--standard answers and no way to talk to a "real" person.

I think it is much better to write a real letter to the Neopets staff--one sent via postage stamp.

Yes, almost all of the unfrozen stories I've heard involve sending snail mail...

Too bad it didnt work for me. But I guess I've really gotten over it... Because I live an ultra high security neo life and I have a feeling a wont be frozen anymore... But then again, I never anticipated being frozen... And now I rambling on about my life, and this topic isnt about that.

So I wouldn't call them if I were you... But I'd definitely snail mai.

Tonu, I have never, ever seen you ramble in my life. I, on the other hand . . . :P

But, Tonu is right. Snail mail. No guarantees--but my husband did get his account back that way--and you are not limited to the insane word/character limit that they put on the frozen form.

I snail mailed a complete, to the point, and polite letter. I hand wrote it on stationary for a more authentic and adult feeling, stuffed it in a pretty matching envelope, and am patiently waiting.

I remember someone saying their father had called neopets to get her account unfrozen, but he was told something like the number was only for business...I'm not completely sure on the response, but the long and short of it was that it didn't work out.

Yep. All three of the people I know who've called have been told that the phone number is for business only.

It's quite unfortunate for people who live on the otherwide of the world (like me) who have to pay much more to get a simple snail mail, or overseas calling :(

Although, if you really want to find out their phone number, you *could* ask Naniwai for it, she's called Adam's personal home (?) phone before, although I wouldn't be so sure it'd be that easy.

Personally I would be very very very upset if people started calling me at home to beg to get unfrozen, so I recommend not trying this!!!

One problem, though- regardless of whether or not you send a snail or e-mail, you wait months, perhaps even a year or two, before you get so much as an acknowledgement of your existance. I waited six months for a reply from Neo when I e-mailed them after my first account was frozen, and that was TWO YEARS AGO. Undoubtedly, with all of the changes to the site since then, I am guaranteed a 5% chance, if not less, of getting my account back. As much as I hate to say it, many of the others on this site and around the world will very likely fare no better, regardless of how professional or convincing they are, even if they truly are innocent.

People here are too optimistic. I appreciate your support and the support you give to others in times of need, but the harsh reality is that we are more likely to get frozen a second time than to get our accounts back, simply because we are "troublemakers" and started over, very likely not to "turn over a new leaf" (as though we had done anything offensive in the first place).

Well, I got my account back, and I couldn't be happier with the way TNT dealt with me. I kept sending courteous explanatory emails until I got a response. If you haven't had a response to an email within two days, send another. That's what I did, and as I said, I had my account back within two months. I really appreciate it too :)

There's another problem: Nobody knows the working e-mails anymore, and the frozen forms basically pile up to the point that one in 100 might get unfrozen.

My husband got his account back within a week of sending a snail mail and my daughter got her account back within 24 hours of my sending an email. Maybe, we were just lucky. Maybe we knew the right words to say or the right tone to use in our letters. Maybe it was our credentials. Maybe it has all changed since then (a year for my daughter and 18 months for my husband). But, it did happen.

Without optimism, there is no reason to ever do anything--in virtual life or real life. Trust me, in real life, I am not the happy, cheery person that has had gold fall at my feet. You have no idea the stuff I have been through in the years I have been on this planet. However, I am a realist. Good things can happen--perhaps not now, and perhaps not to you, unfortunately. But, maybe the things that happened to you and to others are paving the way for the future. For others that find themselves in your situation later on. I know that doesn't mean a hill of beans to you--being frozen unfairly and trying so desperately to convince Neo of their error. I feel bad that I don't have a magic wand to change that--really, I do.

But, I remember a time when no one ever, ever got compensated for any items lost due to glitches. No matter how many reports we filed. No matter how much people lost or how many people lost it (remember the TP glitch?) We were just supposed to "suck it up" and keep playing--and not complain about it. Ha! Guess, I didn't hear that last part--as anyone on PPT can attest. I have been christened the "glitch faerie" by a few here on PPT. Lost more than $1.2 million in items in the past 18 months.

And, guess what? Neopets has changed its thinking--maybe because enough of us wrote to complain--not just on bug reports, but here on PPT. After all, we have had at least one PPT staffer here reading our posts. The last major glitch we had, they gave items back to people that wrote in bug reports about their losses. And, I was one of them. And, this past weekend, I noticed a change in quick stock. Even when I had gotten the "Page cannot be displayed" error while doing quickstock, the items I was transferring did not disappear. Not one of them. So, maybe they heard me and others with our suggestions of a new way to recapture lost items.

If they can make a change to the way the lost items are handled, maybe eventually they can make a change to the way they deal with frozen accounts. Maybe they will see the error of their ways. If I didn't have hope, I would have quit playing Neopets long ago.

I realize optimism is necessary, it's just that too much of it often makes me feel worse because I believe that the things people suggest are often not possible, not realistic. Unfortunately, I'm a pessimist, and although I really have no reason to, I find it largely impossible to hope that these things could happen. I don't give up, but there's something in me that tells me my efforts are futile regardless of how hard I try. This is one of those instances. I'm young, and don't know nearly as much of the world as many of those older than me here do, including you; but already I am cynical and rarely notice the sun shining through the clouds, so to speak, and even if it is, I don't ever think that sun will break through. I have been told that I have many positive qualities, and I do, but much of me only notices my own failures and insecurities in myself as well as others.

The only reason I haven't given up on this is because of the people here, because they have done things that have worked before and because of the support they give, but so far I've accomplished nothing. I've sent another e-mail, this time to mailto:vipada@neopets.com; it's likely to be blocked.

EDIT: Yeah.

Oh, Omni, please don't let an insensitive corporation like Neopets cause you to stop seeing the beautiful sunrises and sunsets in real life. It makes me very sad to see so many young people cynical about life already. And, due to a game? Not worth it. These are the very reasons why I quit so many times in the past. But, yet, I still hope that someday, the "suits" will wake up and see the error of their ways. Perhaps, too optimistic on my part? Perhaps.
