And this is the first time I ever got a warning on the boards too - I'm on the PT help one a lot, cos I like chatting there, and helping (guiding?) other people when they get stuck with it

As far as I know, the girl with the SS hasn't been warned or anything, but I will warn her, just to be on the safe side

Actually, I know what that is. Slave RPs are banned(I used to RP on a different account, now I don't RP, I just have been informed they're banned) and I guess 'slaves' triggers the bot.

But, I don't think they freeze, usually... I think they give warnings, but...

Freezing isn't really helping. How many scammers get new accounts? How many harrassers get new accounts? How many spammers get new accounts? Banning for periods of time would solve this. Not only will people be at least partly punished, people who get falsely frozen can get their accounts Back Always, at least.

In other news, somebody on the BD board has been reported for 'scramming'

*nods* Yeah, I just got another mail, saying that slave RP's are banned So I guess it just wasn't seen in context, and that word set off a warning

As opposed to laying in bed and ???????? I think implying or indirectly referring to anything else will get you a warning. The word simply implies other possibilities.

dogfriend, the laying in bed was what I originally thought had triggered the warning too. Things can be taken out of context, especially if there wasn't a person involved, but a bot looking for certain words or phrases.

But Ma Twit has now gotten 2 emails with the reason for the warning - the whole "slave" thing. I'm just glad she actually did get a response. And it actually makes sense (as so many warnings don't).

Ma, tell your friend (if you haven't already) to take those ss down. Wouldn't want to see someone warned or frozen for something that's supposed to be funny.

everconfused, it appears there are 2 ways a warning can be generated. By a bot or by a monitor looking at a post. I have seen examples of both recently. We have to be careful.

This is just to everyone Do write an email to support asking could they send you a quote of the offending post. Also if you still have the warning, include the date/time of it. They're less likely to ignore you then.

Then you can go from there in asking them exactly what was bad about it. Since I think a few staff lately have been briefly whizzing through something. Think they see an offence and send the warning without really thinking.

I again blame them working from home. Since I have worked from home and it's not allways the best place to work from... (No offence to any neoboard monitors lurking. It's just true)



Even though it does sound possible. I actually doubt very much that an edited post could get anyone frozen. Since the report you send also contains the thread number which you can't see. Which should then be checked as they do keep reccords of those things for some time.

The reason it is editable is really just so you could add something. I use it for notes ect. As in: Mentioning that there were a number of similar boards/posts made by the person that evening also.
As not to spam them with individual postings.

I know any quotes they have sent me telling me what I said wrong were not doctored. Yet if you do quote someone. You are still classed as saying the thing. So be warned. Quoting someone is exactly the same as saying it yourself.

As I got warned for quoting someone talking politics then told them it was against the rules. Since they were a little slow... But I still got the warning.

I think this whole "report-happy" mentality is out of hand. Don't get me wrong -- I believe reporting is justified for serious violations, such as sexually explicit material, outright scamming, attempting to gain passwords. But most of the stuff I've seen get reported are chain letters, spamming the neoboards, etc. Are these silly little annoyances really worth freezing somebody?? TNT puts way too much freezing power into the hands of the players. Also, I believe that a lot of players use reporting as a power trip, or they think that TNT will reward them in some way for being little tattle-tales. Grrr...



VirtualMetal, I have to disagree with you on this one. I've been telecommuting since before the days that "working from home" became fashionable. I was the first one in our company to telecommute, beginning back in 1988. By 1990, my company had even allowed me to take my job from Albuquerque to San Diego, and then to Northern California. It has always worked well for both myself and my employers. Of course, not all people are suited for it. It takes a lot of self-discipline, organizational skills, and an independent mentality. You have to also be willing to attend in-house staff meetings, training programs, phone conferences, etc. And in my case, it also means flying back to Albuquerque a couple times a year.
