People get ICED for this sort of thing all the time- happened to me, too. I'm sick of having to wait to get unfrozen; I'm snail-mailing them (ironic, isn't it?)

They have plenty of automated bots checking the boards, they don't seem to think human logic is better.

Sometimes it isn't due to an autobot, but someone who reported you--even if you didn't do anything wrong. I have proof (in a staff person's email) that very often Neo freezes based only on someone's report--and doesn't bother to check out the actual stuff stated on the board.

Some people are extremely report happy. Some people are extremely jealous. My guess is that some unattached, lonely person was jealous that you were happy to have a hubby and happy that he was laying in bed--and possibly reported you for saying sexual stuff in your posts. Not that you did, mind you. But, the Neo staffer might have taken that person's word as gold and not bothered to even look at your post.

Similar thing happened to my daughter last year. Neo froze her because some evil nasty thing reported that she was scamming on the chat boards, when actually she was giving away presents (no strings attached)--the staff person froze her and didn't bother to read her posts. Lucky for us, someone at Neo realized this (after my polite but scathing email) and ended up unfreezing my daughter's account and freezing the person who reported her--for filing too many false reports.

My advice: stay off of the boards and if you absolutely must post, create a throwaway account that is only used for posting on the boards. That way, if it is frozen, you really haven't lost anything of value.

This is one of the reasons I don't like the fact they gave report power to players.. way to many report happy people out there that will report for the littlest things, even if what you said was 100% innocent they report you because they have a dirty mind.

Also has anyone here actually tried to report a post from the Neochats? It's rather scary.. if you hit report post you get a form with their post already in it ,however you can edit their post before sending in the report. If Neopets insist on allowing players to report each other then they should figure out a way to keep the post from being edited by the person reporting it. For all you know you are getting a warning for something you didn't even type all because someone is having a bad day and chose you to take it out on.

:o Wow I did not know you could edit.. so anyone could make it look like you said any thing they want. not that I ever go on neoboards but now I am staying away for good.

I know I will only chat off site!

Did you know I have posted on the neoboards my whole 9 months on neopets, and I have only gotten 5 warnings, 3 of which I know I deserve.

The thing is, some people say very bad things, and never get reported. Simply becaus ethe only people who read the boards are their friends, and their friends refuse to see the wrong in what they said.

Well I've been playing Neopets for four years and I don't post on the neoboards, and in that time, I have not received a single warning.

Not one.

I think that says it all.

Same here, hollypop. I never post on the chats--well, to be honest, rarely ever. I have posted a time or two when the site was glitchy and people were freaking out over lost shops, lost SDBs, lost petpets, lost items--but, at the time, I thought it was only the noble thing to do in order to calm the hysteria generating throughout the boards--people thinking they were hacked, doomed, etc.

But, idle chat, no thanks. Too many people out there thrive on power. And, the report button gives them power.

I use Neoboards, and have only received a warning once because my younger cousin had taken control of the computer when I went to the bathroom and she was spamming.

Mon Nov 15, 2004 4:12 am

Y'know, I posted on the Neoboards for months, maybe a year or two, and I think I might've gotten one warning, but I'm not too sure on that...
I guess Neopets saw how many Rare Item Codes I've reedemed, thus they don't want to freeze me in fear they'll lose a customer.
I've also said naughty things over Neomail and nothing ever happened. (don't get any ideas TNT, that was on an old account I self-froze anyway)

Mon Nov 15, 2004 2:56 pm

I think TNT should come out with a bot, that whenever someone posts a chain letter, it posts a reply from the neopets team account, that says it doesn't work... or something along the lines of that. Instead of having people frozen, just have them automatically told it doesn't work.

Ouch! I bet that's the reason quite a few people have been frozen... It's kinda sad really how people will actually take the time to edit someones post just to get them frozen!
Anyway, I go on the Neoboards sometimes and I don't think I've ever had a warning... And let me tell you, I have been in some pretty sticky situations :S

Mon Nov 15, 2004 7:52 pm

Oh, I got a reply from TNT :) Really wasnt expecting that :)

I wasn't warned for what I thought I was :)

One of the otehr girls I was chatting with, about plushie tycoon, has made up some "evil" screenshots for the game (am not gonna mention her user name anywhere, dont want her to get in trouble, I will warn her myself :))

Anyway, on her evil screenshots, she has "purchse slaves" instead of hire employees and "your sweatshop" instead of your factory, things like that :) When she made a second screenie, she didn't change all them, and when she asked us all to lok at it, my post said
"Oh! LOL! I didn't see your new one! But it doesnt have a link to the sweatshop Or the purchse slaves page LOL! At least we know
now who's resposible for all the people on here saying they've gone bankrupt Hee hee..."

Anyways, that's the post I was warned for :) I guess the purchase slaves bit came in under "adult lifestyle"? Seems to be taken out of context to me, but I guess they cant really differentiate that easily, so I can live with it :)

Mon Nov 15, 2004 8:00 pm

Wow, you got an answer?! When I wrote in (and figured out on my own that it was the word ebay) I never heard anything.

Did anything happen to the person who originally posted/had those ss? I know in my case I got a warning, but the person who posted ebay first had nothing done. Weird, huh?

Oh, my warning was on my guild board. Never gotten a warning from being on the boards. Of course, I'm very careful on what and where I post. Only things like how to get to the healing springs, petpage csshelp, that sort of thing. I leave everything else alone.

I do honestly think that "report this message" should be removed from the boards. It's caused more harm than good. I too was very surprised to learn that people could report you and change the message they were reporting. That, at least, should be changed - if you click Report This Message that message should not be able to be edited/altered/changed in any way.
