I cried at the end of Old Yeller It got me thinking about how my old dog had died. I had loved her so much, and then one morning she ran after a squirel out into the street and... well you can figure out the rest. I was in 2nd grade too

Luckily I read it at home a few days before we finished it, so I didn't cry while we read it in class.

The Two Princesses of Bamarre didn't make me remotely sad.. there's only one book that's ever made me cry, and that was Firewing. Only because I really liked Shade.. he was so cool.. and because my cat was sick.. and it was 2 am xD I moped about the book for a good two days later though

Gosh it's happened again! Everytime I see a topic like this, something freaky happens in real life. Like in Abbey Road, we were talking about the new Green Day album, two days later, I got it as a birthday present. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is the day before yesterday, my mom bought me a book called "A Child called It"..... How scary is that?! I didn't even mention that I wanted it!

and yes, I sobbed my heart out at it...

The books that made me cry are all under a series called "One Last Wish" by Lurlene McDaniel. All the books in the series are about terminally ill teens and children that are all given a "donation" to make their last wish come true. A couple of the books have "happy" endings, but they will all make you cry, especially "The Legacy: Making Wishes Come True."

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein made me cry. It does everytime I read it.

Where the Red Fern Grows made me cry. And yes I am A guy. It is a very sad book though unbelievably slow.

Elsie Dinsmore I was on the verge of tears when I was reading about her trying to win her fathers affection. She was so young and I felt so bad for her.

When I read The Sight, I cried T.T Cus it was so sad.

Same with Brightly Burning by Mercedes Lackey. THAT one has an incredibly intence moment, and...It's so sad *cries* it makes me sad just thinking about it. It's so hearbreaking *sigh*

you put that perfectly. i finished it last night with wet eyes. lol. i hate that ending, its not fair. WILL, LYRA NOOOOOO. Stuff the dead, you can be together. lol stupid ebil spectres. I think from now on (ive read the series three times) ill just stop before the end. or even better put it in the freezer (you have to have seen the Freinds episode where Joe and Rachel swap books to get this one).

I swear I cry at every book I read (over-exagerating):
The Two Princesses of Bamarre: it was so sad, her sister becoming a faerie
Piece Like a River: read it for english, cried at the end
Harry Potter: cried at the end of the fourth and fifth books. I hate when good characters die!
Second Summer of the Sisterhood: one of the main characters is so upset at the end, which made me upset.

Can't think of anymore, but I know there are others....

Yeah, the ending left me sobbing. I was like "I CAN'T BELIEVE IT ><" The worst part was that I had to do a school book report on it.

Other than the Amber Spyglass, I haven't really cried when reading books. During Small Steps: The Year I got Polio, my eyes got a little bit teary, but nothing major.

I have a book of stories from The Twilight Zone, and there's one story in makes me start crying. I don't remember what it's called, but it's about a dept store Santa whose Christmas wish is to make other people's wishes come true. And his wish comes true and he goes around with a sack and presents come out of it. There's more to it, but that's the premise.
