All I'm asking is where you've gotten this concept of a rivalry between PPT and TNT? The way you've presented your case is that it was something I should have known first thing when I first joined.

I think most forums outside the Neopets.com domain can be severely sterotyped as breeding ground for resentment towards the site and the staff. However most sites, aren't like that. Although I've noticed the occasional moment here, there are quite a few that are the opposite.

You mention your examples, but you never mention that TNT has in the past "teased" other fansites in other ways (very subtle ones compared to the Pink Poogle Toy, but they do pop up on occasion.)

I do know of a staff member that has had some objections to some of our behavior in the past. I also know of about 6 other staff members (perhaps more that are still lurking in the shadows that even I'm not aware of) that have visited our forum at one point or another. That one staff member's opinion is way too biased to be given as a consensus of the staff at Neopets and really shouldn't be there.

This is not a war and I don't want to see this end up as one because of some very clouded "facts"

hydruxo, I agree with you. Other sites have been asked to close or change or whatever.

I read the article, and yes I am known for speaking my mind here when I see or hear or read something that I feel is wrong. I guess that makes me a "complainer". Sure, there's things I and others don't like and sure, we complain. I also give credit to the entire Staff for all the good they do, for how hard they honestly do work for all of us.

I found the article to be adversarial in tone and content. It sounds like an Us Against Them scenerio, which I don't believe to be true. OK, so you can't say Pinkpt on the boards. There's plenty of sites you can't type on the boards or the site. Their site, their rules. I can't see where TNT and PPT are "rivals". These are 2 completely different sites with a common thread/interest - Neopets. But PPT isn't in competition with Neopets, it's not like PPT is another game site. So, I don't understand that.

Yes, there may be some teasing on both sides, I love that. It means that we are seen, we are heard and it humanizes the faceless "TNT" as well as the members here. Our statements made here may not change something we don't like, but maybe there's a reason that we're not aware of for a lack of change. We have a safe place here where we can voice our opinions, complaints, woes, wins, good news, whatever.

Overall, I feel that the relationship between Borovan/Adam, Donna, the other Staff members who come here and the members here is actually a pretty good one, especially lately. There's been some big changes - that darn topbanner (yes, I do still loathe it) and the ads. What happened when Adam found out there were pop-ups and other problems with the off-site ads? He apparently went in and fought to have them removed or he removed them himself. I say Bravo and Thank You for caring that much. And I thank them for taking the time to come here and read posts, respond, help when they can, joke around and take the amount of grief they can be subject to when they come here - especially during a big "glitch", something like that. They come back! Doesn't that say something about there NOT being a rivalry?

Hate is a very strong word and like Love, is tossed around casually and too often. I don't think most of us here (I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone else - but my guess) "hate" Neopets or the Staff. If we did, we wouldn't be going to the site every day. We're not going for the page views, we're going because we enjoy it, we have fun there - even with the problems we may have, glitches we've all endured, whatever.

I didn't find the article to be helpful, useful, truly honest, or even amusing. Was it your intention to agitate? If so, then the article is a hit. If it is an attempt to wave an olive branch, it failed.

EDIT: everconfused talks a LOT! I LIKE 'em! Here kitty kitty!

I really enjoyed it. Some people have reccomended word changes, and maybe a spell check would come in handy, but I think the meat of it was interesting. Maybe using BIGGER words would distract, like saying "...seems to detest" instead of hate. The bigger the words, the harder it is to criticize (that was irony folks). I know I wouldn't want to hang out with the 'person' who can see all my faults and talk about them with others. How do you think the site feels? Poor neopets web site! It might get a complex. But a healthy critisism and an honest response to questions is always refreshing. PPT!

I know I have complained a lot on PPT. I have also complimented a lot. Zen Balance.

I read the first sentence and didn't bring myself to the rest. Not when the opening sentence is a pure, flat-out lie, in my opinion.

Rivals! How about sparring partners? There is a scurvy of whit about them?

I, too, feel that you were a bit... harsh, to say the least. Both to PPTers and to the TNT staff members.

I enjoy it when the Staff Members get on. Adam makes me laugh (in a good way) when he protects his Asparagus, Donna calms me down abit, and Snarkie does a bit of both. And those are the only three Staff Members that I've actually met. I want them to continue coming here.

Personally, I like it when TNT teases us. I was so proud of the Pink Poogle Toy's description, I pointed it out to my Guild Members, and one of them has one in his blue gallery because he liked the description so much. I personally enjoyed it when I got to see the PPT Detention on one of these topics, as I had never seen it before (my net was down when that was up, if you get what I mean).

I don't care if you want to know what I want to be when I grow up, but I'll tell you anyways. I want to work for Neopets, even if its just sweeping the floors or making their lunches. Why did I ever want to do this? One is because I'm helplessly addicted to Neopets. Another is because hear, whenever I find something that noone else has, I feel great, because I can always here your opinions of them. Whether you like them or not.

And, I give permission to Adam, Donna, and Snarkie (and any other Staff Member) to tweak me on the nose and tell me to shut up if I've gone to far and annoyed them. As someone pointed out, this is a Forum, and we can post almost anything we want to. This includes everybody: You, me, staff members, Moderaters, the average Joe Blumaroo and Jill JubJub. This means that when we get to be a bit too much for the TNT to handle, they can always ask us to calm down a bit and try not to be so negative. Or something.

Sorry, it's just I don't agree with what your point is.

Was the article edited? When I skimmed it... I only perceived a bit negative near the end... although I think it's unintentional due to certain phrasing.

Honest opinion... I think nani was trying to make a commentary... however some of the choice of words could have been... better...

It's an interesting read... but to me it seems like what Nani is trying to achieve is a personal take on the situation... I interpreted "rivarly" as more of a jovial thing... (correct me if I'm wrong).

Nani is quite young yes?

Although Nani... if you ask for advice from people... be prepared to take on board what they say... it's a bit strange when someone asks for advice then argues back o_O

Hold onto your seats people... the SL is back.

TNT and PPT aren't rivals in any sense because there is nothing they are competing with each other for. PPT gets forum members BECAUSE of neopets, and neopets can get better neopets members from PPT.

They work together quite well actually.

The idea of a 'war' between PPT and TNT is kinda rough, like most people have said. However, you can't deny that there are staff members who don't like PPT. And I think the only reason the banned PinkPT from the neoboards was because if people moved from the Neoboards to the PPT boards, they wouldn't get as many pageviews.

But thats like any business in a way. I don't think that TNT in general hate PPT.

If you want a real rivalry, look at Pepsi and Coke. Or SPAM and other greasy lunch meats. Not PPT and TNT.

I don't think thats true, neo won't care about losing a hundred pageviews, thats way to little for them. I think they blocked it because people constantly got into fights about PPT having viruses, I remember how there was a big argument about that one time and a couple of PPT members got frozen for it. :(

*cough*
I do believe PPT is now unblocked on Neopets...
Or so my sources would lead me to believe.

That may be one of the reasons, but you'd be surprised at how many pageviews one person can make on the neoboards. I used to lurk there a lot, and I could've given them more pageviews than if I was generally surfing the site. The neoboards are like their prime pageview generators, after games of course (html based games at least). So if a large exoduss of people move from the neoboards to PPT, they'll be losing a lot of pageviews. One person may not make much difference, but if enough people move, then they will lose out.

Thats my opionion in any case.

Are you talking about the things that went on in the Battledome Chat and on Livejournal?

I've always wondered what happened in the BD chat LJ community.. I heard people were fighting over something..

..and I know there are people out there that claims PPT is "full of spyware/adware/viruses". It doesn't make sense.. I am still alive and kicking aren't I? :P

It's quite true that looking at the neoboards takes up a lot of page views.. I lurk there a lot.. (99.9% lurker :D )and I can say most of my time is spent there reading boards .. it really generates a lot of page views..

i don't know anything about the LJ thing, but i do remeber the other stuff with people getting frozen, that was quite nasty, and actually tnt weren't that involved in it, it was mainly member stuff.

but yes, you can now say ppt, pink poogle toy or pink pt and even the word forums all together in neomail, shop descriptions and in userlookup :)

If you see my sanity, get it to give me a call.

About LJ: there's a community there called NeopianRants. Many of it's members are VEHEMENTLY anti-PPT. When the old forums went kaput, there was an insanely long thread about PPT and spyware and PPT and paid advertisements and PPT and the rivalry with soup-faerie.com. It was all very hate-filled and trite, and what it amounted to was that many of their members assumed that TNT's legal team had shut us down, and they were filled with joy about it. Because apparently some people have nothing better to do than wish for that very thing. For whatever reason.

I am a bit confused with this all...

The question that has been and will always be on my mind is, why does the phrase PPT block out on Neomail and the Neoboards?
