I use IE still for Neopets... I had to turn off IE's new pop-up blocker, because when you click on an item and it brings up the item menu, IE thinks that's a pop-up. I haven't seen any pop-ups yet, but I haven't seen that weather ad yet either.

Wow, I didn't mean to start something, I was simply curious and yes, confused by those board topics and the ss I'd seen.

No, I have not gotten that weather ad, but I have gotten privacy reports and when I click on them I do get a nifty window showing where the 3rd party (tracking, etc.) cookies are coming from. I did view source and kept (for some reason) the weird No Ad Showing, but Tribalfusion cookie privacy report - I'm getting this blank ad alot - always the same privacy report ... Here's the source for that one, a ss of the page is underneath:

Quote:
<div class=ban><iframe src="http://a.tribalfusion.com/f.ad?site=Neopets&adSpace=ROS468&size=468x60&pop=0&requestID=2059791176" width=468 height=60 marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 hspace=0 vspace=0 frameborder=0 scrolling=no>
<script language=javascript><!--
randNum=((new Date()).getTime() % 2147483648) + Math.random();
document.write(
"<a href='http://a.tribalfusion.com/i.click?site=Neopets&adSpace=ROS468&size=468x60&requestID=" + randNum + "' target=_blank>" +
"<img src='http://a.tribalfusion.com/i.ad?site=Neopets&adSpace=ROS468&size=468x60&requestID=" + randNum + "'" +
" width=468 height=60 border=0 alt='Click Here'></a>");
// --></script>

</noscript>
</iframe>
</div></td></tr>

I've also gotten these 2 privacy reports for 2 different ads - both are servedby.advertising 3rd party cookies (no, I did not view source for these, sorry) and sorry for the poor quality - I only have paint on this computer:

Yes, I do have Spybot S&D, spywareblaster and I have my cookie privacy set to accept 1st party cookies, block 3rd party cookies (why I get privacy reports) and a/v. I update and run all programs very regularly.

I will say I am concerned with finding tracking cookies on Neopets. I had a strong feeling that the new topbanner would eventually be alot more sponsor ads than site ads, but I didn't expect this, to be honest.

I think it is obvious that this was not what Neopets intended and they will fix the problem very quickly. *waiting to see what will be done*

Me too... I had assumed that most of the top banner ads would be for youth-oriented ventures, such as Disney, Mattel, etc. I surely didn't expect pharmaceutical companies and the military.

I still would like to know why Neopets has inserted 16 cookies into my cookie file. They're all unique cookies, too. Do they really need so many cookies?? Even my ISP and my bank only have about 3 to 4 cookies each on my computer....

Looking to buy Snowbunny Stamp and Sticky Snowflake Stamp. If you're selling, please PM me!

Callwave and most of the weather programs are well known for spyware. My guess is that these banners are insiting the popups, not Neopets themselves.

I however don't have this problem since I have Premium. 0:)

<STOWA|Sleep> my sister questioned the title. "Half Blooded Prince? Does that mean he's a Moogle"

Sierra, are they all definitely first party Neopets cookies? If so, that is really weird. If you go to, say, the shop of offers, you'll probably get 3rd party cookies unless you have something to stop them - spywareblaster and change your cookie handling in privacy if you use IE. When I look in my Cookies folder (yes, I have a shortcut on my desktop) and I see an extra or odd one, I'll open it. No, I can't read 99.9999999% of it - all those numbers and stuff, but usually there's a URL somewhere in that cookie. That's what I look for, to see where it came from. If it's something I don't like, I'll put that URL in my security and restricted sites so no more cookies from that particular place, just a privacy report on the bottom of my page letting me know that something's been blocked.
