They're very obviously ripoffs, even if you are a newbie.

Some Newbies didn't know what a shop wiz is, and buys things from big shopw? :/ I've never EVER bought anything from a mall before myself though...

Some people are on faerie quests and cannot use the shop wizard, and, having no one to go for help, they have to resort to buying from malls.

And there are newbies who do not know what the shop wizard is, or do not know how to utilise it.

I remember when I was a New Member, I saw that and looked at them, saw the prices, and took off.

Don't forget one thing which definately keeps malls in business.

If you are young and under 13, unless you have parental faxed permission, you are NOT allowed to use chat. So that means when a faerie quest happens, you can't use wiz, nor can you ask quest help.

Bookmarking a huge mall with tons of (overpriced) items is usually a good way to always be sure you can find those common items at hand if you only have one account and can't go and check prices on a spare.¨

Anyhow, that keeps those guys in business.

Also I wouldn't visit the chat if my life depended on it, so I use malls sometimes on quests. But those faerie quests happen so seldom I don't care if I get that one item a bit overpriced...

I remember that when I was a newbie, I once had a faerie quest. I couldn't use the shop wizard and didn't know you could ask fo help in the chat boards. So I ended up buying a book for 4000np, which was about 800np in the wizard...

when i was new i would use malls for faerie quest items..........and like a lemon i usually spotted something else i wanted too so would end up buying 3 or 4 items....

The NeoBoards really aren't THAT bad. Sometimes I think it's just a needless phobia. True, the monitors are freeze-happy, but there's nothing wrong with asking for help finding an item, especially if the board you're on is intended for that purpose. If you DO get frozen out of the blue, it's easy to make your case without much trouble.

Well, one of my friends owns a mall, and she does great business. One of th reasons they do so well, is just because it's much easier to be lazy, and get something all in one place, then go searching all over the place.

Hmm. Still, i'd rather save a few thousand NP and spend more time searching for the items instead of spending 6784 NP on some grapes. But that's just me

sometimes something may be cheaply priced, and i'll buy that, then see something else, that i like, or assume is also cheap, and i'll buy it. malls are huge, but i once found a buyable aisha cloud blaster, for 90k, now they sell on the tp for 180k at the time, so that was a good buy. and it was in a mall, ended up buying heaps for my gallery, and it was all cheap too

That's a common ploy among mall owners. They price an item at a very cheap price while the rest are overpriced. An unsuspecting user goes in, thinks that all the items are cheaply priced, and buys everything he/she wants. This is especially common among those selling map pieces, because it is so hard to find each individual map, so if you see a shop selling one piece for the cheapest you'd buy all of them from the same shop.

I actually never have really used a mall. I'm too stingy to go to malls out of the fact that I want to buy things for the cheapest I possibly can. So I always use the shop wizard. I was lucky when I was very new on neopets because I was wondering around and I dicovered the shop wizard and what it did. I shudder to think how much I would have wasted had I not found it so soon.
