Lately, it seems as though TNT is more concerned with advertising and appeasing their sponsors, than concentrating on the problems with their members.

People are being frozen unjustly. There is a MAJOR problem with TNT's freezing system. Families cannot play on the same computer. You can't solve a Mystery Pic with fellow Neopians together. You can't play a proper flash game without the high risk of being iced.

Few people are happy with the new advertising banner. Especially that horrible picture of the swimsuit model. Members have voiced their dislike for the bar, but it's not being addressed.

Neopets has become too commercial, and it's the members who are paying for it.

And it's not right. We the good, honest members are what made Neopets what it is. Is this how we are repayed? Ads shoved down our throats? Frozen because we share the computer with our families?

I have become very disappointed with Neopets as of late, and I don't see it getting any better until TNT addresses the REAL problems.

Not advertising. Member satisfaction.

I don't have too much of a problem with ads, as there are ads on almost every site I regularly go to, but yes, that ad needs to go, it's not good to have that on a site with such young kids.

I still don't see why they would add a banner without taking away the flash button. It is like being attacked by ads constantly. If I couldn't block them, I would feel like they were in-page pop-up ads.

I have not seen it, but I agree.

I know they need sponsers, I understand that, but I don't want ones of bathing suit models or ones for eBay if they freeze or warn people just for saying the word..

I totally get you with the freezing, LupetyLupe. Infact, lastnight, I dreamt I got frozen.

Lupety Lupe, I could talk for hours on this subject (ask any PPTer if I cannot talk for hours), but let's just say you answered your own question.

EDIT: And Kitten Medli, I too often dream of being frozen. Sad, isn't it? I could be dreaming of Mel Gibson or Tom Cruise and here I spend my precious time dreaming of Neopets.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?

I dreamed I won the jackpot on something once, I cant remember, it evaporated like 5 minutes after I woke up.

Neopets has some pretty bad advertising, although I a saw a hooked on phonics one :)

Neo should keep to the sponsers like Disney, I mean, Aladdin and The Haunted House and movies like that are okay, but eBay??!??!

Wow, so many people are dreaming of Neopets at night?! Their bandwidth is going to overflow! :o Brings up their page views, though. :P

Seriously, I haven't dreamed of Neopets before. I have better things in real life to dream of than that.

I agree with you on most statements, Lupe, but Neopets has to have some advertising in order to survive. The huge advert banner is too much, though. The small box on the sidebar was fine, IMO. So are the "immersive advertising" aspects such as sponsor games, sponsor shops etc.

Its not the size or the extra banner. Its the fact that they should take some responsibility for who they allow to advertise.

Swimsuit models on a children's site is NOT appropriate.

I think thier adverts is not nearly as serious as yahoo mail or even some of the major newspaper's web pages out there. I think neopets was born commerical, one mans idea about how to submerse someone in a world of advertising that was simple and effective. It worked! It is the most popular advertising world on the web. It sells itself!

Although I have complaints about the freezing of accounts, and I did post a screenie of the 'free wallpaper' chick, I have no real complaints about their advertising as of yet.

The difference with yahoo mail and newspapers is that they are read by everyone. Neopets is targetting young children.

Do you not think they have a responsibility to monitor the content that their advertisers place on the site?

It's doesn't surprise me at all that TNT has jacked up their advertising on the site. I mean look who actually owns Neopets, Inc. Doug Dohring is a lifelong marketing professional, and an extremely successful one at that. I doubt that when the Dohring Company acquired Neopets.com in November 1999 it was for the love of virtual gaming petsites. Rather, he saw the huge potential such a site could have within the realm of advertising and marketing, especially towards a young clientele.

What many people don't realize is that WE are the product. It's the players that bring in the corporate sponsors and resulting revenues. TNT isn't bombarding us with ads in order to keep the website "free". They're bombarding us with ads because that is one of their business objectives....

Just my 2 cents worth....

:)

Hmmm when I read some of the stories here I'm starting to think that a high risk of getting frozen is a good thing...
Helps you to keep things in perspective...

After all, neopets is just an INTERNET GAME!!!

If you worry all the time about getting frozen, if you dream about it, maybe it has gotten too much of an obsession? Should it not be used as entertainment instead of neopets taking over your life? Maybe people who dream about neopets should stop using it for some months, go out of your houses and go have a real life! Meet people, go places, do fun stuff! Discover the life that lies outside your computers!!

Really people, the number of neo-obsessed are scaring me.

I agree, but neopets is always going to be more interested in their sponsors and understandably so. The double advert. on the yellow tool bar is very annoying but there's not much we can do about these things.

I think neopets has their priorities a little messed up and it's always been like that. All I have to do is mention 'neoschools' and you'll understand what I mean. . .

Neopets most cost a fortune. Neoholic costs thousands a month, and that's not even close to what Neopet's has to handle. Unless people feel like paying money out of thier own pocket to play Neopets, your going to have the banners and ads, and thier's really nothing that can be done about it.

Neopets has to pay for servers, staff, manangment, tours, etc. I'm not saying I love the ads, I'm just saying I'll live with it.
