Hmm.. slightly undecided... but that's because I'm so used to the current menu system. Maybe a change is good =]

I love the look of the yelow bar from the screenies, the skins are a great idea I hope we get to collect them like avatars, that would be really fun!

Wow, just, wow :P

I think this is a huge improvement in my opinion, the good ol' yellow bar needed a makeover and this looks to be just what it needed.

Isn't the whole Portal/premium access thing supposed to be helping with the costs of running the site? (when it's fully released) And if so, why do you still need to have huge sponsor banners?

Or will people with premium/portal not have those banners show up?

No sponsor banners will show up to premium/portal users at all evah.

Dont quote me on that, it may change, that is the idea though...

*bad feeling*
Neo is truly going pay-to-play, you realise that?

And does that mean those of us who tested the portal and got to keep it won't see ads, or only the people who have fallen into the trap of commercialism and actually PAID TO GET AN ADVANTAGE ON NEO?

Adam or Snarkie,

I've noticed that although you fixed the Events icon so that it shows the text when you hover over it, so far it's only working for the Neomail notifications. When someone sends me an item, I still have to click on "Show All" to see what it is. I don't know about the Auction results notification, since I haven't traded anything lately. I'm using Netscape 7, based on the Mozilla 5 engine.

Things seem to be working great, except I had to empty my cache last night, and it took forever to load the pages on dial-up. :(

EDIT: The icon for receiving an item has changed to a gift now, instead of the guild icon!lol But still no hover over description.......:(

I was thinking the same thing (pay for play) ... I did not get to test the portal, and at the time I really thought it was not a biggie - I have a home page already, can't use any other toolbars with my ISP - it's jealous! plus most really DO have hidden trackers in them - tried this with yahoo - my Spybot went nuts finding stuff.

I also have NO interest in having an @ neomail.com email or the ISP (really bad privacy issues, plus I've heard it's not all that reliable).

That said, can a person JUST sign up for the portal, and not have to deal with the ads? What about people with more than one accout? Do they have to sign up for each account (sees money adding up there). If it's not too expensive, I will get something (like maybe better support?) and no huge ads, I would consider it. I didn't and still don't like the whole premium thing "giving an advantage" to players who have it. Most people with it have said to not bother to be honest, that they were most likely going to cancel it.

Oh, btw, there really should be a premium link on the site - there's not one I can find to do some more reading up on this and it has been awhile since I've looked into it.

I *think* we can sign up for just the portal. If I recall correctly, it costs $4.99 per month. If TNT doesn't put Flash ads on the Toolbars for Portal users, I may just go for it....

I agree that they need to put a link to the Premium service on the site. I believe the link is http://www.premium.neopets.com, but I haven't tried it in a while...

I just got this problem while I was playing Gormball.

I signed up for the Isp, portal package thing and only after I had handed over my credit card details, downloaded and installed it, did it tell me that it wouldnt work in my country! Its a 15 day free trial and I emailed them 3 times and it took them 12 days to reply and cancel my email. (BTW, I dont think its actually run by TNT)

I have to admit that the portal worked great and if I had the extra money i would probably consider it, but the rest of it, in my opinion isnt all that! Apart from paying users wont get the ads, there really isnt much more of an advantage to paying. I think you get 1000np a month and the possiblity of getting Random Events in your email (not on the actual neopets site) when you take into consideration the hassle involved in signing up, downloading and installing the thing, you may as well just play some games to earn np instead!:P

PALADIN: I used to get that message all the time when i played gormball before so dont think its anything new!

Wow! Offensive! I have Neopets Premium not to get an advantage on Neo, but to use the portal and to get the avatar. -_- Not everyone who pays for Neopets Premium is doing it soully for the advantage, cause let me tell you, tehre really isn't one.

back onto the topic of the thread.... the new toolbar. i've noticed one downside. if you just go to neopets.com (ie the first page i go to when i come onto neopets) it doesnt tell you about your events, has this always been the case when you've been logged in?

EDIT: i've just found another problem. this page was all squished up to the left:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v390/r4che1/screenie1.gif
and another one did the same, you knwo the one where you've played your move in the battledome and you're waiting for theirs...
