I'm not sure if that's a Halloween-theme, or rather a Haunted Woods theme. Quite a difference between the two. If Halloween, we may be seeing day-themed... themes. If Haunted Woods, it may be world-themed themes.

SITE BANNER IDEA:
Think it would be possible for some Neopets banners that would be pretty functional? Like for example...the things we always *plan* to do on time, but often forget about? Sure would be great when I'm sitting there bored thinking "What do I do now?".
ex:
Wheel of Excitement banner
Wheel of Mediocrity Banner
Buried Treasure Banner
Test Your Strength Banner
Wheel of Knowlege Banner
I always forget to visit those as often as I should. Having them up there amongst the banners would be a great reminder.
I can always remember Tombola, Coltzan, and Fruit Machine....it's just those sticky time-sensitives I always get sidetracked and forget about....
Kudos on the bank banner (reminds me to get my intrest). I like that. Beats non-functional banners (like the explore neopia one) which look pretty, but would be just as easy to hit the explore button rather than clicking the pretty banner.
SNARKIE: I'm coming up clean, you guys have been fixing pretty fast. I doubt I could find another error now.

Hmmm....I wonder if this was the connection to avatars? O_o Are we now going to unlock secret "sidebars" by doing something silly like scoring high in a game or having an overpriced item in our inventory to gain the coveted Neopets Sidebar Champion Trophy?

*actually gasped at that Halloween mockup XD* That's awesome. I really hope that the bar will have themes/skins some day.. Maybe colours, as well as themes like maraquan/meridell/etc. It'd be great to be able to chose something other than that yellow, and after seeing the mockup I know it has a lot of potential.

Yeah, I think the halloween/haunted woods theme is uber cool too. Maybe you could do that for christmas as well? Make the site look more colourful and attractive.

I LOVE the different sidebar for Halloween!

Well, it made more sense for me that it is the Halloween one since it wasn't in the Haunted Woods, like that Bar would be used for everyone on Halloween, not just when someone visted the Haunted Woods, but it would be cool to have the Yellow Bar for Neopia Central, and a special one for other worlds, but people like me, on dial, would still have to have all of them load when they clear their cache

Ah. I see what you're saying, but I didn't make myself clear. I'm thinking world-themed bars that you can change, not ones that change for the world you go to.

Whatever happened to the old spirit of halloween where it was more about dressing up than being scary. I think a little piece in all of us died when we lost our Angel Elephante or our Bunny Grundo not to mention our oh-so-scary lenny ghost under a sheet.

Curious about someting
Isn't the whole Portal/premium access thing supposed to be helping with the costs of running the site? (when it's fully released) And if so, why do you still need to have huge sponsor banners?
Or will people with premium/portal not have those banners show up?

No sponsor banners will show up to premium/portal users at all evah.
Dont quote me on that, it may change, that is the idea though...

PLEASE consider making the banner ads non-flash. A lot of people have older, slow computers and the small ad buttons you already have cause enough of a problem. And I, personally, have already been frozen once in the past for "cheating" on a flash game simply because my computer was too slow and it looked like I was using a cheat program. I've since been unfrozen and have been okay since then, but I know these new ads are going to slow my computer down even more and I'm afraid of being frozen again. Is there any way you could do as people have suggested and have a low-bandwith setting for people with slow computers where we could choose to view html ads instead?

Anyway, In response to the user lookup comments...
We do realize the banner screws them up. =/ I yelled "D'OH" and then made a face like this (>.<) when I first saw it on Friday which made Viola jump about 10 feet in the air cuz she sits next to me. (I knew it was coming. Darn z-index and Flash.)
We've been carefully recoding things with current lookups in mind, so your lookup code should still work aside from the banner showing at the top. And as for that, we're trying to come up with a solution and we have a couple of ideas... we just have to pick one that works for everyone.
So, please don't fret. We will figure something out. We know people have worked very hard on them and we have over 4,000 entries into the lookup spotlight currently. (4,084 actually... I just checked.) We really don't want you to have to do everything over again.
I love the logo part of that theme.
