Touché.

(Though the books are more subtle comedy- you don't know it's supposed to be a funny parody of 'omg liek angst!1' books if you simply pick it up and skim. The movie, though, looks like full-out 'hahaha' comedy. o_o)

I have to agree. I mind them amusing, speaking a fairy number of the "angsty" books really, really stink. they are just funny.

Lovely set by the equally lovely Silja!

I find them a little amusing to read as something to do on a rainy day, but they are certainly not the type of books I would like to read more than once. (In fact, I haven't.) I am mildly interested in what will become of the children in the end. In all likelihood (to my mind), they will die. If not, I should be most surprised, as that is the most unfortunate of unfortunate events I can imagine. I like this man who calls himself "Lemony Snicket" though.

I just got The Grim Grotto today. It's about as big as book 10. About 320 pages. These are really easy for me to read (I can easily them in one or maybe two days), and I want to make this one last. ^_^

Set by robot. Van Den Hoogenband is the best name, ever.

i didn't really like this series, its nice to have a different perspective on stopry outcomes, but i just couldn't get into it, its not my cuppa tea :P

but my friend is sitting next to me and raving on about it so she says they are the best ever! *rolleyes*

anyway back to me, thats intriguing, they are making a movie about this? i can stand movies for books i don't like, and sometimes books grow on me after, :P well not grow, exactly..

I like the books because once you reach i think the fifth book it becomes more of a mystery with the whole VFD thing. Who here has the Unoffiacial Autobiography. (haha i know it's an oxymoron) That has some cool stuff in it. Also explains a lot about the rest of the books.

i was poking around in yahoo and noticed this

http://get.games.yahoo.com/proddesc?gam ... onysnicket

its a yahoo game for the book :P

decription:
Three unlucky orphan children suffer one unfortunate event after the next. Now it's your job to uncover the latest awful event to befall them. Was it fire? Snake bites? Leeches? Or another unmentionable horror? You'll also need to discover the person responsible for these dastardly deeds. Could it be Count Olaf scheming to get his hands on the orphan's fortune? Or perhaps someone from his ghastly theater troupe. It will take logic and deductive reasoning to find the answers. If this game sounds too morose, we urge you to go play something cheerier. Don't say we didn't warn you!

be warned, its not the full game, if you wish the full features, you have to buy a licence key, but you can play for a limited time for free, but after that it locks it unless you have a key.

and cyborg, whats a VFD?

If you see my sanity, get it to give me a call.

Havn't any of you read the tenth book? well i will give you a hint. We know that v stands for voulenteer so there is only the fd. Know what was the cause of the kids loosing thier home. and how the quagmire triplets lost their home. and what happened at the calgari carnival? I figured it out watching Mr. deeds. They use the three words in that movie.

It stands for voulenteer Fire Department

copy and paste to read

Correction. That's what everyone THINKS it stands for. There's also tons of other meanings for it, and no one's sure which one's right.

And yes, I've read all the books, including LS's unauthorized autobiography.

It is the best guess and they use those initials for almost everything. But the organization is the one posted above. At least thats what I believe.

How many times have you read them? I have read most of them three times but the latest three only once.
