Yes it is. Evil things and monster sightings. It now should be called "smutty talking teens and stupid arguments about goths". :)

MMmm....smutty arguments....

Wait. I got that wrong.

alombar, in response to your post in response to mine - posting in guilds is fine, and I guess I didn't catch that part. But IMO, posting on the neoboards, even to say, "I'm looking to sell an H4000 helmet" is just asking to get reported.

And they need to find a way to stop that. It shouldn't be that easy to create a new neopets account.

I hate to say it, but maybe they should make a one-time fee of, say, a dollar, to create an account. It could be sent in by money order, doesn't have to be by credit card.

Or they could start doing IP tracking of frozen accounts. If a particular IP address has a lot of accounts frozen, just ban the IP from accessing the site. Maybe do a redirection (is this possible?) to a page that says, "This IP address has been banned from accessing neopets. The account you were trying to access has not necessarily been frozen. Please contact your ISP," or something like that.

But that will also make it harder to start over again if you're unfairly frozen :(

I agree about multiple accounts being too easy to create, but I disagree about paying for every account made.

IMHO, there should be a limit, like say, 4 free accounts every IP address can create on Neopets, whereafter every extra account made must be paid for. But this could pose many problems on public computers and will not be fair on families which have more than 1 person playing Neo.

I agree that everyone should be limited to one account only, right from the beginning of the site, but they had other priorities that time (how to attract more people, which means almost no freezing, unlimited accounts etc). On the other hand, even 15 accounts do not add much load to the servers, if played by a single person: there will always be one online account, thus the number of concurrent users does not change (concurrency is the critical factor of servers' load).

Such a limit cannot be easily handled with current technology though,
while, as Quanda said, IP blocking is not a solution: all three people here always have the same IP, while many people access Neo behind a proxy, or from public computers, i.e. same or fake IP for all.

Micro-charges are one of the most important (and "hot") problems of Internet since 2000. It has not been fully solved yet - they're applied with workarounds (like "we charge .1 for this, but you have to spend at least 10 to be able to send you items" or... "please pre-pay 10 and spend them at your time"). You see, the cost to charge someone for 1$ is more than 1$

Just FYI, everyone would love to charge 1 cent for some services, everyone would not bother to spend 1 cent even in return of nothing, but no one knows how to do it and make a profit.

To be honest I think all those banning making of certain numbers of accounts to an ip is a little silly. Since some ip's are used by more than one person. So it would be unfair.

A more obvious option would be more monitors on the boards. Since I've been on there and found many many ocasions where this kobra fellow and his cronies have been commiting freezable offences (See my other post) and remained in their accounts for months later.
Where as I said eBay and was swiftly removed imediately with automated or no responces to my questions.

But as far as things go. If you post in EMS, you're asking for trouble.

How about the user with the name "thedirtyjew" that I reported a month ago, but still hasn't been frozen. :(

The shop wizard shows me some rather disturbing users' shops (what's inside them is even worse.) Worse still is that the users with such offensive names and content are often not frozen after being reported several times unless you go to the neoboards with a megaphone.

Hear, hear!

And, as I said, his fights could be reported for harassment.

Who knows how many times people have tried to organize everyone on the neoboards into stereotypical classes? Whether you're a dull-minded "goth" or "punk", or perhaps an obnoxious "prep", a wise "nerd" or savvy "geek", or maybe even a pseudo-intellectual who believes that "moral vegetarianism" isn't a completely self-defeating practice despite all the facts that you've been told but are too thick-headed to acknowledge because having another "ism" in your vocabulary automatically makes you look really smart and therefore your existence, however meaningless, has finally seemed to achieved a level of purpose, or maybe you're one of those old, balding 62-year-old men who pretend to be 12-year-old-girls or 14-year-old-guys who are "r3411y h0+!!11", or one of those 12-year-old girls or 14-year-old guys who pretend to have social lives whilst going to "swamp" or "omg!1h0++tub p@r7y!!1" parties where you "m/o" in text messages. But you could also be one of the many life-lacking chronic, insomniac reporters who range from 0-99 years of age who have nothing better to do than become mindless drones of the Neopian injustice system who actually have no justification for their reportations but still report you anyway because they don't like your avatar. Or maybe you're an addicted 1337 battledomer who likes to call people nubs because they have a lot less money than you and you have only friends neomail them because you're a rich, elitist fool who (paradoxically) lives in a cave with their laptop, a small 56k modem, and a cup of coffee, and you become frozen for having an item for sale in your shop at 100,000 and got
p\v//\/3d by a reporter.

Or maybe you're one of those smart people who stays well away from the boards or goes to PPT and doesn't have a need to post on the neoboards.

Whateverthecase, the Neoboards are hell. And no matter where you go, you will find at least one of these people. And on Neopets, hell is frozen over. All the time.

I love the PPT forums, but the neoboards are so much more active; I can usually get an answer to a question (re: quests, glitches, turmy, lab ray, etc.) much more quickly there.

That being said, I keep the random chatting to a minimum over there.

-_-; I'm a reporter and may I say that your comment is very generalizing and offensive to me?

Ha. I used to be a reg at the I/S Neoboard (Ideas/Suggestions) until I actually smartened up and left. I occasionally had frozen accounts and I was always getting warning after warning for fighting. Honestly, you should leave while you have the chance. I'm not saying your stupid for staying because the above applies only to I/S, however it would be wise to leave.

Neopets rules are "modified" at times and it is the responsibility of the user to keep up with them. This can be done by reading the terms and conditions on a regular basis, reading the Neopets news as well as the Neopian Times. One should also consult with a knowledgable palyer or mail staff if one is unsure about something.

So, to answer the question, people are being frozen because they have broken a rule whether they know it or not the VAST majority of the time.
