i just got on (for the minute or two it was up) and all my items are they way they were last night. so i don't know what rollback your talking about. maybe they undid the rollback.

Only certain people got affected. My secondary account which begins with the letter a got rolled back to what it was 2 days ago. My advent calendar gallery was missing 1/2 of its items--it begins with the letter m. Thankfully, they have returned!

Yet my main account, which begins with the letter g and my plushie gallery, which begins with the letter k, had nothing done to them whatsoever. I know several people with the letters a,i, q, j that had rollbacks done to them, including my daughter. Yet my husband's account and gallery (beginning with letter l) looked absolutely fine.

So, I think it was pure luck whether you got "hit" or not. Which is unfair. Either rollback everyone or rollback no one.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?

I haven't checked my shop inventory yet.

I am thinking that if there was a roll back that it would be because some software or server was corrupted and data lost, so that they had to roll back to a previous time. I think that the members would appreciate an update, but maybe the team is scrambling too much to get things back in order that they don't have time.

Arka's right. They could have had a server glitch or even worse, a backup failure and had to go with an older backup when they might have done a scheduled maintainence. And given how they divide up information and accounts among the servers, it doesn't surprise me that only a portion, (I admit that I wasn't affected, as far as I can tell), of people were affected.

I do however offer my condolences to those who have lost things due to this and hope Neopets actually get off their duffs and do something about it!!!!

Amazing what one can come up with when one is given a cardboard box and a roll of duct-tape!

Stuff happens, you can't always be 100% sure of everything. For some reason, this reminds me of Dilbert's boss: "I want advance notice of any unexpected network outages! And I needed it yesterday!"

That is not to say that you don't have a point -- stuff like this should not be happening (and I feel for you). It's just extremely difficult to run a site with their amount of members - there are also a number of factors that noone can predict or control (like a massive storm cutting off power supply (not that it ever happened) -- more in terms of a failed HD on one of the DB servers).

My guess is that they don't revert to backups after a "proper" emergency is just the publics reaction: few people would actually like them to revert (suppose some 20000 (quite unlikely, more like 2k) people got hacked -- and over 10 million people will have to start from yesterday).

I've read that comic, but this is NOT the same situation. It's not like this is some random thing that affected everyone, that made neo scramble to fix the site so everything people did would be safe. And, it ONLY rolled back shops. Not my trades. Not my SDB. And not my money. Couple that with the fact that they've blatently refused to restore ANY items that they've caused to disappear (I'm asking for 2 of my 400+ items back, is that really so awful?) and the fact that they never tell us anything that happens, and this is far worse than some random error that screwed a few people up. I've been hit with several glitches before. I got over it. But this time I won't, simply because I can no longer ignore the fact that my time is not valued there.

I just think it's crap that they give no warning on the new features page and they don't give back items lost in glitches. I mean, without the members, who's gonna support their sponcers and buy their merchandise? We spend our time on this game, and a lot of us spend money, and what do we get in return? Another TCG Expansion!! Yippy Skippy!! =D
And maybe they dont have enough people to restore items lost in glitches, but that means they need to get more people!!

The reason they don't care, is because everyone keeps going back. Sure, we all complain, and every once in a while someone who gets frozen will not come back, but most of the time we complain, but keep going about it. Complaining but not doing anything isn't going to do anything. The ENT laugh their butts off when they see us complain probably. Because they know we're just complaining. Now if everyone who complained boycotted Neopets, that might have some impact. Just for a few weeks. (1 day wouldn't have an impact.) Complaining creates more complaining. Talk is talk, but action creates action.

Good idea. Problem is that we are addicted to the darned games... So, they sell merchandise to us poor addicts to keep the site "free". Why don't we just quit buying the stuff they produce and keep sending mails that sales will pick up when they remember the people who play the game!

Plus, my gorgeous safsfas plushies are gone. They're still in the TP, but not in my inventory. I won one of them from BTY, so I am obviously NOT pleased about it.

I'm in the "i" catagory, and I also lost my safsfas, and it was the first time I won TYS! I'm very smurf about it... :x
