Hi :)

I'm wondering if there's any way to just change your username, or do you have to unsub and re-register if you want to do that.

Thanks!

The only way to change a username currently, is to ask an admin to do so. Im unsure of where the Admins stand on changing usernames however. You'll have to wait for a member of staff to awnser.

Just PM an admin. I'm pretty positive that they will change your name, seeing as I've seen people on here have their names changed before. :)

It depends on why you want your name changed. Also, if you PM an admin every week asking to change your name they won't change it.

I tried registering under two different usernames, but I never received my activation email - later I realized that the email was blocked by my spamfilter. so I had to register under my current username; would it even be possible to change my name if I already created the account, but never activated it?

There used to be a feature that allows users to change their own names, but it was removed since it was being abused. You have to PM an admin/global mod(?) to get it changed now, and be absolutely sure that's what you want your name to be since it probably won't change again for a long time.

Sigh. It was such a fun feature too. I remember the days when people changed their names according to the seasons and festivals. And there was a time when the PPT Gods all had the name of a god in their name...

Yes, but there were also the days where people would change their names every week to confuse people.

True, seems that for every good thing there is an equal and opposite reaction eh?

As far as I knew, there was never a written rule saying you couldn't change usernames every week... You could always bring the hack back (OH YEAH RHYME) and make a rule, like, "only change usernames once a month or so"... Just suggestin'.

I kind of like that idea. It seems that quite a few people want it back, and maybe there would be less controversy if it was added, but there was a limit to how often you could change your name. :)

But to think about it from another perspective, that would be relatively hard to enforce unless there was another hack available to prevent frequent name changes.

There would be no real way to enforce name changes that way even with a rule like that in place. There would still be people who would abuse the option to the point we couldn't tell who from who is there were consequenses involved.

And BTW it's not a hack, it's an option on the admin panel.
