Ok, honestly I gave up on NQII. ut now I'm back into it, determined to get a Scuzzys Comb or Ramtors Spellbook from winning. It could really help my battle set, after that acciadent with my spellbook and lost over 900k worth of item :x

Anyway, back to it. I'm in need of help on evil. Right now I'm level 9, in White River, replenishing my stock of potions. I'll be sure to fight Zombom at level 11 at the least. What skills shall I invest in? Right now I only have Melee Haste and Damage Increase. My haste seems to be working at least once per battle, so I'll start to concentarde of Magic Resist *cough* Zombom *cough*.

I'm about the same place as you, after giving up on Insane for now because I got frustrated with the constant dying. I've put points into Crit Attacks, Damage Increase, Haste, and Stunning. It seems to work pretty well so far.

Is stunning like Rohane's slowing thing....like Tailina's strikes (but random).

The problem is I'm using potions too frequently...I'm not earning them fast enough...*cough*

Quote:
2 Healing Flask (heal 25)
5 Healing Vial (heal 15)
10 Blast Potion (dmg 25)

*cough*

History repeats itself...I'll die at the stairs on level one of the tower like I did on normal. But wait.....I'm regaining flasks....maybe not?

I wouldn't expect to get healing vials faster than you go through them when leveling up to Zombom on Evil or Insane.

Do it gradually instead. Go into the caves, fight until you're low on healing vials (at 5, you're definately low). Then go back to White River and buy more. Lather, rinse, repeat, going deeper into the caves as you get stronger, but always making sure you lturn back when you still have enough vials left to get back out again and get more. Then do a last run to White River for vials and punch through the tower to Zombom. (Speaking from experience, you don't want to try to fight your way out of the tower and back to White River if you can help it.) Try to save the stronger healing potions for Zombom except when you start getting 20 of them -- then use a few as you can't get more once you have 20.

I had to level up to face Zombom on Insane twice thanks to an untimely NQII rollback. Not fun, but it worked.

I'm already in the tower.

question: on insane, do you need twice as much experience to level up as on evil/normal? that was the one thing that always kept me from playing neoquest I on insane, but I might try neoquest II if its not the case.

Stunning pretty much stuns them - it usually enables you to get an extra turn in, from what I've found. I've found it to be quite effective, as I've managed to kill someone like that when I've been low on HP ^-^

I think I died about 5 times getting to/fighting Zombom. Maybe you should level up more, spend some time just walking around in areas you can handle the fights getting gold/exp/potions, and then once you're levelled up enough, make a run for Zombom.

Not necessarily. You do get less experience from each battle though, which means it takes longer. Ultimately, it all comes down to whether you have the patience.

Not really about the game itself here, but I went to check a map on the In-Depth Guide site (http://www.digifort.com/idnq/index.php?page=nq2maps) and:

Yes, I see where you're coming from - I had that problem. What I did was just stay in areas where I wasn't getting hurt heaps, even if it did take longer, and only healing when really necessary.

Deevil - I'm not sure what's going on, I'm just using a different map site until it's fixed :)
