I think I found a scammer

Wed Aug 25, 2004 6:11 am

Was was looking through new trades and came across "snake12345678" trying to lure people into a chat forum with the offer of giving them neopoints. See the trade discription to see what I mean. Does this remind anybody else of a sicko luring kids into cars with the promise of candy? :x

Yes and the candy was good.

Could be. Then again, it could be somebody who's really board and is willing to pay for friends...

no energy

Couldn't have had much. No trophies, very little games score, shop size one. I just didn't have the energy to check it out. I also don't chat and didn't want to download aim or yahoo messanger. I know some people like to mess with potential scammers, but I just don't have the inclination.

There is the possibility of cookie grabbers whenever you enter a chatroom outside of Neopets. So yes, he's probably a scammer.

I don't ever "play" with (potential or otherwise) scammers...I never give out my im or email. There's 5 people on my im - and those are people I have to deal with re: another forum I'm involved with. Otherwise, everyone is blocked, as are any and all files.

I didn't go to that trade, but just that someone posted that in their trade smells too much like a scam. Plus, they can and should be reported just for posting an outside chatroom - that's against the rules by itself.

well, tnt pulled out the freeze ray on that guy. His account has been frozen. I guess the freeze ray CAN be used for good!

Strangers have the BEST candy!

Glad justice has prevailed.

Finding a scammer isn't new.. And seeing the freeze ray shot at him also isn't new, just a regular day on neopets...

Good point. Scammers are everywhere. Not all of them have been caught yet though, sadly....

It's quite inpossible to find all the scammers, because there are so many, when one is frozen 2 new ones come to neopets.

*dances* and another one bites the dust!

whoa

Pretty bad when it was THAT obvious. Although it seemed pretty wicked, I didn't report the person because they had not actually done anything wrong that I could prove. I'm not a 'report happy' type of person. I do try to protect newbies, give out answers, and be an all around nice Neopian. I hope nobody wasn't scammed by that account, though. <3
