I know, but what good's a plushie paint brush (toy, not P/b) if you can't do anything with it? Like NQ2 Thunder Lizard Plushies go for like 900,000 nps... WHY?! It doesn't even DO anything except make your pet happy, but a Blue Aisha Plushie can do that for a lot cheaper!

I do not understand why some people in the neoboard post this sort of stuff when you are trying to sell something. If you are not interested in my stuffs then go away! Dun post in my board that plushies are useless and they do not even realise they are telling my potential customers not to buy my stuffs.

I remember I used to make a mistake with a petpet I brought and was trying to sell it off without losing too much np. There was one fellow in the board that kept telling people not to buy my petpet because it is not worth that much. Arrrrrrgggggh!

Just need a space to rant! :x

I think that those are two very different cases.
I agree that people who don't understand collecting shouldn't say stupid things. I'm always suprised when people don't get things like that *rolls eyes*

On the other hand I'm really not terribly sympathetic is someone is warning that you're overpricing. That's just them being good neo-samaritans (assuming that you were overpricing and they weren't just making stuff up)

Overpricing in general -- hmmm
I don't know -- in shops i generally don't think so -- you're just setting the price at which you're willing to sell that item. There's nothing wrong with that. On the other hand I think that some mall owners are taking advantage of newbies in rather a shady way but that's not necessarily scamming (not necessarily people i'd want to hang out with though). On the other hand if someone is employing any type of subterfuge to promote an overpriced auction/trade/shop item I think that is a type of scamming because you're having to decieve someone. I used to sell lots of overpriced Booktastic Books before the trophy is introduced. I just put them in my shop and they will sell but slowly. I sold overpriced snow petpet paint brushes too when they were still at 3000+. I buy them from the Wizard and put them in the auction for 6000. But I dun find myself a scammer.

I will like to hear what the rest of the people think. Do you label players that sell overpriced items as scammers?

I dont consider that to be scamming, as long as youre not claiming to be the cheapest. The whole point of the shops is that you can stock what you want at whatever prices you want to! If people dont like your prices then they are welcome to shop elsewhere! :)

My friend auctioned a Adoniable snowball for 2000NP once....and someone bid on it.... I was like

Oh my god you ripped of someone 1000NP XD Of course it wasn't really a scam...he was just a New Member who got some NP that day. :D

Of course I do feel bad for the person who put there Lost Desert Paintbrush in the Shop for 100K, seriously they typed that out and then i bought it for 100NP....And I got hacked after that so no one got it. :/

On one hand, overpricing raises the cost of items because most people use the shop-wizard to base their prices on.

Then again, it's basic supply and demand.

I don't really consider it scamming, though, unless you do something like change the background so you can't see the prices without highlighting.

People are like that sometimes. It isn't just on Neopets, either. A day after the 1933 Saint Guadens $20 Dollar Gold Piece --- the only 1933 Saint Guaden $20 gold piece that's legal to own --- sold for $7.59 Million dollars, I heard someone comment, " Why would someone spend millions of dollars on a hunk of gold? Why didn't he spend it on something REALLY collectable, like commemorative plates? Now THERE'S something that EVERYONE should collect." This comment was made by a female classmate.

I agree with jxpop and xjox on this. It is supply and demand. You can charge whatever you like in your shop. Whether or not it sells at your price is another matter.

These "malls"? I don't like, for the very reason that they tend to take advantage of new players, especially if they're on their first or second quest and don't know that they can come to the boards asking for a search. I know I didn't go near the boards for months when i joined!

As long as your prices show and you're not going on the shop board, etc. making false claims that your item's the cheapest, or it's super rare (when it isn't) or is being retired/needed for an alleged avatar (we all know the rumor thing), then no, you're not even attempting to scam -- you're just making some extra np!

Yah...still... Indeed, the post reply that is talking about the blue aisha and the rare plushies....It's absolutly right!I'm trying to get lushies sometimes, some of them are like at 25 np....and others are selling plushies like 200,000 nps, If you want to get you pet happy, seriously get a plushie that is 1000 or less.

I don't think there is anything wrong with over-pricing items, as long as your not telling people they are the cheapest around!

Your not forcing people to buy from your shop, they choose to shop there.
