Whenever i make an acceptable avatar, it's over 6k . don't you think the limit should be increased? I has to settle for this avatar.

According to the FAQ, the limit is over 6k. Here is a direct quote:

Quote:
What is the limit on avatars?
80x80px, and a size of 10kb.

But the thing in the profiles said

Quote:
Avatar control panel
Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB.

and i've gotten my avatar deleted with the message

Quote:
Please keep your avatar within filesize limits (6k)

:(

Sounds like someone needs to update the FAQ. ;)

It also says:

Quote:
Is there an image limit to pictures in your signature?
Yes - 400px width, 100px height. And the image must not exceed 50kb.

I wonder if that has been limited as well?

As far as I know, I do believe the one in the FAQ is wrong about the avs, the limit is still 6 kb. In general though, avs usually aren't removed unless their animation lags, which means they highly exceed the limit, so if you're a bit over, don't worry.

The sig limit is right, 400x100 and 50 kb.

But those who exceed the limits are found out eventually, we can't catch them all in one sweep. Yours may have been noticed as over the limit and his isn't.

If you are conserned about someone's avatar and signature, feel free to contact any of us and we will pass it on to someone who is able to deal with it.

Over 6k? 6k is quite a good bit amount for an avatar as is. Are you adding a lot of animation that it's over 6k?

Just a little comment, but I agree, I think the limit should be........7kb!

Almost all my avs fall between 6kb and 7kb, and I have 15-20 of them.

I think it's fine as it is. If you can't handle that file size yourself, request from someone.

If you used Animation Shop instead of Image Ready it can allow you to cut down the number of colours, lowering the quality slightly, but allowing you more frames in under 6kb.

You can still make a nice av using animation that's under 6k. ;) Besides, I think you're probably going to have to just work with the 6k. I don't think that the admins plan on changing it anytime soon, and if they do, I doubt they'd make it that much higher than 6k.
