This logo won some contest (along with the bottom banner that was in Flash), but was too impractical to keep. It was either used and quickly replaced by a logo Alexa (remember her?) made, or not used at all.

I wondered the same thing. Perhaps he's there for posterity. And camouflage - Can't have a Pink Poogle Mug at work now, can we ;)
