Sounds neat, I wonder if I'd be nominated for anything? Although, another forum I was on had a neat variation on this: People would apply, and people would try to think up an award. In a way, everyone won... well, except for the poor sucker who got "Most Annoying".

Great idea! Hey, I have to win something. :P

If I can't be a mod, I want to win a PPTbie this year. Yeah, I know it's a popularity contest, but I want to be popular. Simple as that.

No, I never officially left; yes, I am gone forever. I have also permanently left AIM. If you need to contact me, drop a line on LJ. Same username.

I'll make this year's PPTbies the best ever ^_^ Therell definitely be categories for the newber members to participate in and maybe even some categories that require some members to do something to qualify :)

The PPTbies is something that I feel puts a lot of people down. For one, many feel they have to be popular just to win an award, and sometimes this is true. Some feel that mods, supermods, admins OR friends of all the above win these kind of things, and a lot of the nominees are pretty much that.

I personally don’t really care for the PPTbies, who wins, wins, and who doesn’t, doesn’t, I'm sure they'll live. But it’s a put down for many, because they feel they aren’t popular enough to win the "Most Popular Member" award, or they aren’t talented enough to win the "Most Talented" award. I think something that a lot of PPT members dislike shouldn’t be forced upon them. PPT members make this forum, and if a lot of them aren’t happy with what goes on in the forums then it should definitely be thought about.

I say you should have a vote or something, on if the PPTbies should take place. At the end whichever side gets the most votes, then that’s what will happen. That way you could give members that dislike and like the PPTbies a chance to get what they want fairly.

True, true Ayse - but surely it would be easier for those who despise the PPTbies just to not participate?

I suppose, but it wouldnt really be fair if the members had to tip toe around to ignore something they could vote on no?

As I said, I'll put in a few categories this year which will require the nominees to perform a certain task etc to make it 'less of a popularity contest'.

The PPTbies isn't about popularity, it's just a community event that aims to bring people together with the opportunity to participate in a community game. If one doesn't want to, then the choice is entirely theirs. Bottomline, it's for a bit of fun.

I don't believe there was any "tip-toeing' last year as it as all contained in one section? It was easily avoided and I'm sure the staff will take such considerations this year as well. ;)
