Tapatalk has been removed

Several years back, I installed Tapatalk as a way for more people to access and use the site. I do not believe anyone is actually using it any more, and since they went to a monetized model, I keep getting emails to upgrade to the "newer/better" model. I know they upgraded to help with better monetization, but I am guessing it is not worth the hassle.

I was using it "way back when" and it was good at the time, but I now find that the mobile version of the site now works better and does not need a separate app.

If anyone is still using Tapatalk and finds it invaluable, please let me know and I will not remove it as soon as planned.

Update -- Ok, so in this instance, "soon" turned into just over a year.

As of August 30, 2021, the Tapatalk plugin was removed from the site. As mentioned above, Tapatalk has outlived its usefulness and the current mobile theme seems to be working quite well.

I never used it, so I don't miss it. Mobile theme, you say? But then would I have to use it on my PC, too? Zooming works just fine for me for now ...

I believe the mobile view is cookie based. You can set it on your phone and still maintain "regular" view on your PC. I constantly go back and forth between phone and computer and do not change any settings betwixt the two.

On your phone, look in the very bottom right of the page, and tap on the "switch to mobile style" link. Looks great on my mobile device. If you dislike it, the bottom right link will then read "switch to full style" which will of course get you back to the full site view.

Note: Do not tick the "Desktop View" in your mobile device when using the mobile style. Looks really weird that way.

Ah. They don't have an "active topics" view in mobile style (at least that I can find). When I'm reading, it actually looks better in regular view than mobile view. (I didn't try typing in mobile view, but it works okay in regular view. It's big enough to read, though you do have to move the screen a little if you want to make sure everything typed correctly - which is important when you swipe-type on Android.)

Correct. It does not have the extremely handy "active topics" link (which is actually how I have PPT Forums bookmarked on my PC).

The mobile version does change the font color for the topics and posts that are unread, assuming you are logged in.

Regardless - I am glad for everyone here, no matter how you prefer to view the site.
Unless of course, you prefer Tapatalk in which case you are now unable to do so...
