Boards, generally"Mark all posts as read"The tracking of what you've read and what you haven't read is now done server-side - which means that closing your browser or logging in using another computer will not clear the unread topic/post icons. The unread status is only cleared if you view the last post of a thread (reading the first page does not mark a multi-page thread as read). You can use the "Mark forums read" and "Mark topics read" links located above the header row on the forum and board index pages to mark all posts on the forums / a specific board as read (use CTRL+F to find the link text in the page if you're unable to locate the link manually). You may also mark all posts on all boards as read
by clicking here.
-1 new messages, 2 unread messagesThe PM system didn't know what it was talking about; new messages/unread messages indicators were often wrong. We've now resolved this by marking all PMs read - you may want to check if you've read all messages in your PM inbox.
What are you on about, I did not join at 5am?!The Joined Date was off by 14 hours previously, and thus not representative of the time you actually joined. We've now moved the join dates forward based on Paul's recollection, and this should no longer be an issue (there are accounts who signed up
tomorrow, though - but that will pass).
Themes and modsSince we're currently running a release candidate version of phpBB3, application of most mods and themes is counter-productive since they would probably have to change in the future. That is not to say that the forums are completely uncustomized - just that most non-critical, non-visual tweaks may have to wait until the final release of phpBB3 (when it's ready™).
The other modsModerators'
names and stars (
) currently are currently
purple. The mechanical arrow that you see on our logo (it's the one holding the paintbrush!) has unfortunately caught up to the real Arrow, and, well, purple stars happened.
Orange stars are currently used for past staff members.
PostingOn font sizesIn the previous version, font sizes were absolute values; this is no longer the case. Instead, size takes a
percentage of the visitor's normal font size; so size=100 would make text appear normal,
size=150 would make it 50% larger than normal, and
size=50 would make it 50% smaller. For our sanity, you really shouldn't use any values below 65 - if you're using smaller font to hide post content that you do not want people to immediately read, consider using spoiler tags.
Spoiler tagsYou can use
- Code:
[spoiler]Spoiler text goes here[/spoiler]
to produce a box that would only reveal its content when clicked on. Note that spoiler tags can't be nested. This currently requires javascript to view, and looks something like this:
HTML & FlashHTML is currently disabled on PPT Forums. You should be able to apply most formatting using BBCode; disabling HTML makes it easier for us to prevent any potential exploits from being transmitted over the forums. Flash is also currently disabled.
My signature is not displaying properlyThere's a hard 150px limit on signature height - if your signature is larger than 150px, the pixels below the limit will simply get cut from display. All original
Signature & Avatar Size Restrictions still apply.
Quote and edit buttonsNow appears below the poster's signature, on the right; rather than top right of the post. You may also quote additional posts easily from the "post a reply" page - simply click quote on any of the posts in the post summary that appears below the "post a reply" form.
PollsThe polll system has recieved a small revamp - you may allocate multiple choices per member, and you may allow members who have voted to change their minds ("Allow re-voting"). The length of the bars in the poll results dialog isn't proportional to the number of people voting for a specific option (I'm aware of this, but will only be fixing it if it persists in the final release).
If you've got a question or an issue that hasn't been covered here, feel free to PM me using the PM button somewhere below this post.
