Is my Latin right? I'm a little rusty, I haven't studied it lately...
Anyway, I'm Immoral Word. I'm authorkid9 on Neopets, which I've been playing for... nigh on three years, come February 1st. I'm not the most luckiest fellow on Neopets, but I have stuck occasional gold (coming in second place a few weeks back in the Caption Competition, for instance)... What else to say about Neopets? Oh yes, I'm saving up for a Lab Map, and I've reached the halfway point in NP...
Now, away from Neopets. I'm a high school freshman with aspirations to become an author. I'm in the midst of writing a book that I love/hate to death (depends on how I'm writing that day), but I plan to do several extensive rewrites after finishing it. I'm also a fan of linguistics- I studied Spanish in middle school, am trying to learn Latin on my own, and am taking a Japanese class in school. I'm also in the process of making my own conlanguage, but it's on hiatus at the moment.
Yeah. [Insert fairly generic closing statement here].

Welcome! I really like learning languages, too. Right now I'm learning a lot-on my own. I'm working especially hard at french.
Once, again, welcome to the PPT forums!(Is "Salvete" Latin for hi?)

According to my Latin dictionary, it means "hello [literally "be well"] to a large group of people."

Hello there! It's nice to know what someone is also writing a novel. I'm working on two, and I understand the love/hate to death thing about it.
Learning new languages eh? I'm in Spanish 3 in high school, but I really want to learn Japanese. You're lucky that your school has it.
But anyway, welcome!

By the way, welcome to the billboard, err, I mean messageboard.

Welcome to PPT! I couldn't tell you anything about your Latin, since I study French. (Which reminds me. I have holiday homework. Ew.)
Good luck with both your book and saving up for a Lab Map ^.^

A group of Roman Centurians stand gathered in a clearing somewhere in Gual, all murmor with a mutinous air. The men have been at the front for five years with, as they consider it, a unsatisfactory wage. They stand in a semi circle each holding something in their hands.
A heated argument seems to be going on between a centurian with a gaunt face and a figure in the center of the soilders circle.
Soilder: In tempore praet-
Figure: Tutene? Atque cuius exercitus!
It seems the Legion has taken the ambassador from the senat hostage. And yes it also seems they are preparing to toss him up and down on a blanket! What an outrage!
The senators pleasantly plump frame ascends into the gray Gaulish sky the returns to earth and the blanket. On his second flight he glances this topic, and hears some of this conversation.
"Salvete? Soivete? Te audire non possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure!"
He falls back into the blanket, and leaves this tale....
I suppose after I droped that into you welcome post you deserve something from me. But I don't belive I'm qualifyed to be welcoming people at this stage >_> *Secretly* Welcome >_>
EDIT: Wow in my sleepy haze a completly missed that your studying Japanese! Hows That going for you? I'm also taking it though I'm far better at reading than speaking -_-

Welcome, Immoral Word. You sound like a very cool guy and I think you'll fit in well here at PPT. If you ever need anything don't hesitate to ask.

Heh, thank you all for the warm welcome.
I'm not sure where I should ask this, so I'll ask it here: am I defying the rules by putting a link in my signature? I've been to some forums that hiss and spit on you for doing that, and others who let you. If I'm breaking a rule, I'll remove it right away.

I don't know the rule, but judging by what I have seen, it's fine, becuase I have seen many people with links in their sig.

Welcome to the forums! I have never studied Latin in my life before (except for "Dulce et Decorum Est", which doesn't count), so I wouldn't be able to say if you are learning it right. I do know someone else on these forums who studies Latin though!
I think it's wonderful that you're writing a book. I'd love to write a book but I just don't have the talent to do it, more's the pity. I love reading though; that's my favourite hobby. Books are my best friends (i.e, <-- sad little person).
Anyway, you may have links in your signature as long as the link does not go to a site that might not be children-friendly. The PPT forums are suitable for children, so of course we want any links leading from here to be suitable for children as well.
