Re: Atlas of the Ancients [Split 1]

I've done 23 completions so far today - no prizes. I've still got only the molten rock.

I can't help but wonder if there's some rubric that involves making up previous days' missed opportunities? So, I'd have to get 6+12+24+48 completions today?

I really hope not. I'm in the same boat.

That might be true, because it took me more on Saturday than it should have, after I missed Friday.

Chap. 11 has five items.

Molten Rock - 6 successful fixes
Fire Muffin - 12 successful fixes
Molten Pile of Dung - 18 successful fixes
Rock Mote - 24 successful fixes
Underground Explorations - 30 successful fixes.

There is a 5 minute timeout after each successful fix.

The Molten Rock is available today and Underground Explorations.

Previous day's prizes (except the rock) can no longer be won.

The amount needed can fall a few less or a few more.

The game resets at midnight, so any previous turns do not get counted.

Looks like the machine portion is over:

...and I never got my dung :(

Well, it's over. At long last, this surprisingly dull and uninteresting plot (facsimile) trundles to a thoroughly unsatisfying conclusion.

...just in time for AAA Game Master challenges!

Hmm. Rushed plot in order to segue straight into the Game Master challenge this year, perhaps? Does that make it poorly or expertly timed as a result, I wonder.

Either way, I feel I got very little from that whole experience and I expect better next time, TNT. I've seen what you do with plots when you try. This was... this was not trying.

Here's hoping for a plot shop, or something resembling it, then.

Well, the plot has finished with chapter 12.

To say I am disappointed is an understatment.

Why didn't we get to fight the lava monster?

Even if it was just for one day.

So bitterly disappointed....have I said that already?

Welcome to the new Neopets. If this was TNT trying to throw us a bone to keep us satisfied, all I can say is "FAIL!!!!"

Epic Fail.

meh.

Sadly, the "plots" do seem to get worse and worse.

Can anyone say if the Cyodrake "mini plot" was actually longer than AotA?

Can't say I'm disappointed, but that's mostly due to not expecting much to begin with.
Somehow I knew they'd do this. :P

Same here.

Though the last step still floors me. Plot-wise, what's the point of fixing a machine again and again? For the previous repetitious tasks in plots, e.g. grave-digging, losing against the mayor, pyramid-block removing, there were some reason behind - but this plot? At least they could have said something like "there's more than one machine that makes up Neopia's core, and we have to fix them all..." Instead, all I see is TNT trying to weed out the less 'dedicated' players.

By my recollection, Cyodrake only lasted for about a week or two, and that was a guessing game besides. (I remember it was ludicrously short because I was gone for about a week or so and came back and it had run its course completely). Not really a plot so much as a logic puzzle, like Gadgadsbogen or Usurper (or even the Mystery Ski Lodge).

The last real plot (Dr. Sloth) was actually pretty good; difficult, gratifying, varied and required a lot of out-of-game cooperation to figure out. The code-breaking aspect was frustrating, but by and large it was a positive experience.

Come to think, what's happened between then and this travesty other than a couple of Altador Cups and the opening of PetPet Park? I know plots aren't common, but is this seriously the first one since?

All I can say is I hope we get really good prizes... (wishful thinking -.-)

But maybe there IS a reason for this very, very, very poorly done plot: To make the older Neopets audience so annoyed that we all leave Neopets and then they only have to worry about the little 5 to 7 year olds.

Somehow I think we won't get any more prizes... me thinks that what we got during the "plot" was it...

Well.... part of me thinks that, but the other part believes that TNT will at least carry on with the tradition of giving us an avvie + background + trophy for the plot.
