The goal of the part?

The overall goal of a plot is to work out the clues and ultimately finish it before your time is up.

If person A chooses to do plots for prizes and person B chooses to do the plot for fun - then who is misinterpreting the goal?

Being on Neo and participating in plots should be fun, but what is the harm in wanting to have trophies, or better prizes or have a really good battledome score?

Everyone has their own reasons for being on Neo and for doing plots.

Within plots, everyone has their choice of how much to do:

A. use a guide or not
B. fight or not
C. ask for help or give up
D. Spend every waking hour doing the plot or only an hour a day.

No-one can really misinterpret how a plot works or a individual step of a plot, when there is no goal except for finishing it before Neo ends it.

I will stick my hand up and say YES, I fought more challengers for the points (that I am only presuming will be given). Having said that, I do plots for fun, but when more points are potentially there, I will do what I think is best for me.

You've misunderstood what I meant by the "goal of the plot part", I think. :/ I meant TNT"s goal, game design-wise, not players' goals., which, of course, vary considerably. So TNT"s goal for the mayor was probably cooperation between lots of players on the site, not "give the BDers something to fight against" (which was the role of the gravestones and trees and so on). (To just put this in context again, anjuna seemed to be saying that the only people playing the mayor part were those who just enjoyed BD so much that they would do so, but I wanted to point out that people just wanting to join in the team effort would fight the mayor too, and the latter is probably what attracted most of the players; most of the players probably didn't fight the mayor just to have something to fight.)

group effort

This is all that was required, inevitable, and expected. A percentage of masses.* There is no judgement. No one knows how points will be awarded, and there is also no reason to discuss it further, beyond perhaps a separate thread devoted to prize wishes, and I am sorry if I 'started' anything here. I really hope people read me back and realize I was never trying to offend anyone. But I did have my own opinion, is all.

And I was also just coming from a place of not being a 'BDer'. Thanks for letting me explain myself.

*EDIT: Oh, again, plus, even if one played only the BD area of the site, during the plot, and knew nothing of the plot, but liked and chose to BD anyway, regardless of a programmed timing ........ still seems contrived.

*Reads back and tries to calculate the PPT forum post times to Neopian.*

Or just someone post, when was the third Mayor defeated? Anywhere near the 3PM calculated? Shall we go back, start compiling stats?

No, sorry, I am trying to diffuse this discussion .. really .. really .

Geez, it is just like choosing sides .. in a .. war .. hmmmmmmmm.

All bosses of a war plot have had massive amounts of HPs (difficulty), and every time you fought it did bring down the hps (unlike the Mayor). But you still had everyone fighting (group effort) just the same as this fight.

A. In those wars - my pet was not strong enough to fight a boss and win - so I never did fight more than once (losses were not rewarded).

B. This fight - noones pet was strong enough to win but you could damage the mayor at the expense of your statistics (if these mattered to you). At this point, we don't know if loses are rewarded.

Both cases are still a group effort.

In case A - losses were known not to be rewarded.
In case B - losses are unknown.

The very nature of a Boss is a 'group effort' but in reality it is still a player's desire to 'kill' the boss that makes it an individual effort.

Scoring is also based on individual efforts and not divided amongst those who fought.

No-one can know TNT's goals (unless TNT state them somewhere), so all of this is just speculation.

Cool down, calm down. Different people have different point of views and different thinking. Doesn't really matter, right......?

All of you have good points. This is sort of grey area. Just try to accept each other!

Edit: Typo...

Please calm down sily_sicily, we are only discussing our point of views - no one is getting killed. :)

Thes forums are here to discuss things are they not?

If so why did you use red text? Red = anger IMO...
And you guys sound angry and trying to get your point across, if I haven't misunderstood.

--- Sorry to keep with the strong sentiment of Daze's, and perhaps others not speaking up (rejoicing, since most lost their BD stats) but I am still feeling okay with the fact that, it is odd .. i do find the BD boring, but I have this aim to get my "never to be zapped zen Nimmo" to level 250, into Ninja training (pirates beware! yar! j/k lol) but "never" to fight .. I spend as much as you do on training and hoping on Coltzan and doing Kitchen Quests and hoping for a Faerie blessing for yes 'stats' I don't 'care' about. And the few times I did fight I used my best weapons and strategy. And when I healed my virtual pets, I did so with more than Healing Potion I. :P It is ironic that in this case I really just didn't think it would influence plot points so much (in which case we all rejoice) and you only have sorer hands .. or if you're young and very nimble, yay for you.

Again, I wish the plot point array be negligible, so in the end, it is basically no worse than the Altador Plot prizes, is all I ask. (Please!) ;)

And Daze makes other very good points. We all just have a different fighting strategy, I think is the point. And again, time only tells what the effort in a virtual game is worth. When I have fought, I tried to make sure to challenge only about the HP I can beat (check my stats). I don't have uber-stats, but balanced (springenkikker at least) and strong on most all counts. I challenged the Trees and Shadows as much as I could 'amuse' myself with it as a person that frankly does not find the 'click and read a message' battle fun much these days (prefer hard puzzles, sorry!). So please, like Daze said, I really almost see this coming, even whenever plot points are awarded, don't blame us for overextending your time online or your BD stats if YOU should think it unfair, since we tried what we could or wanted, and didn't care about the points of that part, so we have nothing to gripe over when the plot prizes are released (unless, they are like Altador's).

Please don't read things into my posts that aren't there. :)

Red is the highlight colour/marking colour - I have grown up with using red to number or dot point my work and I write in blue or black.

Red is only angry if you see it that way. As I have not written anything angry or resorted to reply in angry tones, then I can't see how I could have been mistaken as being angry.

I am an adult as is Anjuna, I don't know your age or others' but I write as my age dictates. I write as I talk - I know no other way.

I am stating a point of opinion - how should I sound?

sily_sicily and Daze, I think we are all ok. We are not 'fighting' so much as really having a very detailed discussion. And it appears the only person that had much to 'argue' about has (PM admittedly) left the conversation in disinterest. We all made some good points, that hopefully others might remember when plot point time rolls around, just in case! ;)

That would be me!

I hate battling. My highest pet is level 28 with 48 hit points. I can't beat Meuka for the stupid Defenders of Neopia thing.

BUT.... I joined in the mayor-fighting because I wanted to be a part of something.... part of the team. It was gratifying to know that no matter how uber someone's pet was, they would die in one round just like me (well, maybe two if they were REALLY uber, but, still. Practically instantly). It made me feel like I was actually almost as useful as them!

The plot has finished. You cannot access any of it anymore.
