Losses don't hurt, but it's also kind of pointless to send the score in, rather just restart the game, it'll be quicker. The points are based on who gets the most goals over their player number, losses aren't counted. (not sure how exactly the points are calculated but I'm pretty sure losses won't count.)

My strategy is simple: wait for the other team to get the ball and pass, then select the closest player, run towards the opponent with the ball, steal the ball and shoot while most of the opponents are not defending.

Anyway, the reason I didn't want to choose Shenkuu is that it seems to be overly popular. I'd rather go with Roo Island, it should (hopefully) have less but more dedicated players.

I find it very easy.

When I first played it last year, I didn't know how I was ever going to score in the game - as I am not that good at games.

Then by the 2nd round, I realised that the computer only has set moves - so at the start you only have 3 choices - left, right, middle. I always let the opposition take the ball, then I steal it.

If the ball is normal or fire you can run up the opposition and steal the ball and shoot a goal within 5 seconds.

The snow, mutant and faerie take alittle longer but still the same tactic.

I have scored with the clockwork a couple of times - as long as the left or right opposition player has it.

I have scored once with the darigan but haven't managed it again. I usually let the opposition score quickly on that ball and move on to score as many goals as possible in the time left.

Someone had said a staff member posted on the boards about the cup and said if you lose and don't send your score it will still be counted as a loss :\. Any comments or clarification? ~fruit_loop_2
Egads, no. We are certain no staff member said this. Probably just some evil ploy by some mean users. Grr. Just do your best and submit EVERY game you can regardless of the outcome. Every bit of effort counts!

I have seen this many times on the boards: players from opposing teams making side accounts, joining the rival team & losing to lessen the score & have the other team win. Is this reportable? ~sfdscheer
Not only is it reportable, it's a freezable offense. No one may participate in the Altador Cup on any other account aside from their main. Sending in bad scores for the other team is not only poor sportsmanship, but is also downright disgraceful to the team they should be representing with honour. (And don't worry, they're really only hurting themselves.) ;)

It's really unfair that the Haunted Woods has so many users who play for them. I mean, we loyal Darigan Citadel players are hopelessly outnumbered. There's no way we can even attempt to win. I should know. I used to be Brightvale, and I flattened the Woods seven times in a row. (Please omit my username. Thank you :-) ~anonymous
We're not sure why you think you're so outnumbered, but don't worry! As stated on the previous round pages, it doesn't matter if another team has more members:

"The Altador Cup Committee bases scores on win/loss/tie record, point scores, individual performance, and a weighted average based on team membership. Translation: A team with more players has no advantage over a team with fewer players!"

In other words, don't give up or feel you are at a disadvantage! Just do your best and have fun! ^_^

Words of wisdom from last year's editorial. In short, the scores are weighted depending on the number of players on a team, and even losses are counted.

Well I am going with my Roo Island team. Just like last year.

Anyway, I remember someone posting a link last season which let you have a practice match with any team you wanted.

oh and..go Roo!

I was wondering why the practice team looked like they were made of Jelly. I guess this explains it.

Haha, I just practiced against Haunted Woods, and got 0-9 me. I totally forgot how wild they go after you get 9 goals. Has anyone ever scored a 10 or greater?

Sun Jun 03, 2007 6:06 pm

I'm still debating about which team to join. I can't decide between Shenkuu and Mystery Island.

I've been practicing the game and I'm getting so I can usually win but the most I've ever gotten is 4 goals. :P

Yeah, it's actually possible, but highly unlikely. I did it a few time last year, and I have a screenie that I took of it.

However, your score reverts back to 9 on the send score page, so it doesn't really matter how many your score over 9, they don't count. I think the highest score ever was 12-0, but I'm not sure.

Hey guys: I think it'd be really helpful to post a sticky of Yooyuball tips, rules, etc. as well as links to banners and such. I'll be picking through this thread for things and crediting the authors, but if you have any strategies and such would you please PM me? I think this'd make things less complicated.

I managed to score with a Darigan ball o.O
I was in front of the keeper and threw straight at him, and the ball went into the corner. Whew.

I scored (lol, how long it took me to remember the past tense of score 0.o) with the darigan ball a few times yesterday! =0
But I'm doing a whole lot better now I have my tablet. Tablet pens are the best at helping you play yooyuball. =D

Sun Jun 03, 2007 7:23 pm

I only scored with it once and it's direction is totally random. I just score owngoals when a dargian ball comes.

The Yooyuball sticky is up. Remember to PM me with any tips you may have!
