Ack! I just spent about an hour trying to make a composition that required a power value of 82 (+/- 5, of course). I did all the calculations given by one of the petpages mentioned on the walkthrough and came out to 79 averaged.
That's what the actual averaged value, after I'd prepared all of the ingredients, should have been.
But for some reason, when I combined all of the ingredients, I got 89 as the total power value.
I just had to discard an hour's worth of work :x
Are the Neopets site's calculations off or what?

Well maybe they could at least give us a hint!

For the record, Cranberry is not the kind of person to selfishly keep information to herself. She spent hours working out solutions for the LDP to help PPTers, and I am sure if she knew what to do, we would also know.

Yeah, for the record, I tied for third on the site in the LDP, and friends I was working with came first and second. We helped PPTers out quite a lot.

There is no "to be continued" and I do know that it's solveable. I'd bet anyone 500,000 NP. Like I said, you just have to trust me. ;) No, I haven't gotten it myself yet.

Who is 'they'? Neo rarely releases more hints, and if they did, it would only be if no-one had found anything after a few days.

Well, Sophie sounds like she's made it before, or at least that she knows how...

Let's just see if I can remember how to make that one composite...

Can anyone think of a way we can... remind her? It sounds like something we can make, not just find... comments?

Edit: OR... now that I think about it, does that mean that there is only one composite for this level, and the other potion has to be found/won/captured in some way? Or... maybe I need to stop wracking my brain and go to bed and it doesn't mean anything. :roflol:

Thanks for your help guys sorry if I was being a pest; I wasnt "combining" the two parts of composition 1 but rather trying to mix them in cauldron

Still no idea on the Spectral Essence, although I did find this on a petpage:

If your target ranges are anywhere between 80 and 86 there is an easier way to do it. Max out 3g Bloodfern and it will be 330 on all stats. Then use three other ingredients with nothing done to them (dont burn or soak or grind or anything at all) and you will get a composite with +83 for all stats.

The above will ONLY work for you if you have a range of 80-86 on both your values, however. Otherwise you will have to either follow one of the solutions below or find another, more complicated solution.

Very handy, and if you're having trouble with the second composition and you fall into those ranges, I strongly suggest trying this first!

For your 'total of averages' it is simple. REALLY! Remember fractions? Proportions? Percentages? Just use a calculator. :battar:

Example:

Composite #2:
Quantity: 25 grams
Target value of Relevant quality: +83 +/- 5

(I have 3 ingredients in the following proportions):
10/25 grams @ +83
10/25 grams @ +114
5/25 grams @ +38

(Translated to calculator-friendly digits):
.4 * 83 = 33.2
.4 * 114 = 45.6
.2 * 38 = 7.6
---------------
(Add averages): = 86.4 (is 83 +/- 5? true)

I know it seems like grasping at straws, but can anybody think of any other "potion makers" on the site? I've tried everything Sophie, Edna or Kayla related that I could think of... to no avail.

BTW, I now know more than I ever wanted to know about "essence of esophagore". I never knew it existed until today's research. EWWWW! :P

anjuna, I didn't think that weight came into it. It didn't appear to come into it for the second one I did..

EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently it does, but it didn't affect me as my values were so close to exact that it didn't matter.

I need a little help. I am on the very first step.

Composite #1:
Quantity: 5 grams
Relevant property: Divination
Target value: +56 +/- 5

I have +39, but the 4 actions keep saying that they've reached their limit. Do I have to start over again? What happened?

Fri Nov 10, 2006 1:52 am

Maybe we need to get all the conjuring, divination and the like to 180?

Fri Nov 10, 2006 1:53 am

CrescentRoses-

That happened to me too. Try using a different ingredient. Each ingredient has different "maxed out" levels where it won't let you burn/soak/dry/smush it anymore.
:)

CrescentRoses - unfortunately, it looks like you will indeed have to start over - use a different ingredient this time.

Katdragon - that idea has already been doing the rounds as a rumour, though it's been proven to be false. So I don't think that's it.

I'm wondering about the bone testing potion, what was that called ?
