I have spyware on my computer, but everytime I try to delete it using this program I half, it "freezes" and nothing gets deleted. Well, sometimes it does, but there is one thing that my spyware program detected that simply cannot be deleted as my computer freezes. I think its called DSO Exploit. I've tried running the program in Safe Mode, still freezes, I think its the cause of some of my major problems.

How do I delete it? Help!

Are you comfortable with editing the registry? If so:

1) Make a note of the location of the exploit shown in Spybot, something similar to:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1614895754-73586283-725345543-500\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0\1004!=W=3

2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and Press Enter to open the Windows Registry Editor

3) Find the location of the exploit above in the registry by clicking on the pluses(+) next to each title

4) After opening the Zones section and clicking on '0' look to the right window, under 'name' is the key '1004' and the type is REG_SZ simply right click and delete this REG_SZ value. Then right click and create new>DWORD Value, name it 1004, then right click on that and goto modify, give it the Hex Value of 3, Click ok.

If there is only a DWORD Value for the key (in this case 1004), then double click on the key and change the HEX value to 3 and click Ok.

5) Close the Registry Editor and Reboot your computer

6) The DSO Exploit should now be removed and it should no longer appear in the Spybot Search and Destroy log as a problem.

If you do do it, do not deviate from the instructions. Registry editing is fairly easy, as long as you make sure you pay attention!

Ooo! Major thanks! Not going to do it right now, school soon, I'll do it after I get back.

Hi, I have a little problem.

Since this morning, I can't access my C: drive at all. The icon is now a "misc file" and when I try to enter my C:, I get the message:
Quote:
Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components

I never did anything weird around my drivers lately, so I don't know how this happened. How can I restore my C: driver? I don't want to start messing around and delete it by accident.

This happens if there is a file named Autorun.inf in the drive's root directory. Right-click the drive and choose "open", look for this file Autorun.inf and delete it. Restart Windows (if required)

"Writing Error:3 Error occurred writing data to disk. Communication with drive unit failed (1003). Error sense data: Sense key:4 ASC:8 ASCQ: 3 "

This error appeared when I attempted to burn my video files. How should I fix it? o_O

Discovered another problem. I cannot open my saved webpages. Whenever it starts to load, it closes down and the error appeared: "Windows cannot find the file, make sure you type the name correctly then try again."

Another one which I've been meaning to ask: In my Internet Explorer's homepage (blank), the letter "ÿ" appears. Why is that so? o_O

Kinda sounds like a trojan or virus or something.

I'd just reformat if I were you. That'll solve everything

BUT make sure you havea firewall and virus program alive and running BEFORE you connect to the internet, or you'll be like a naked boy surrounded by leeches!

I have an insane ammount of spyware on my computer and it won't all go away. I run both Ad-Aware and Spybot, but when I run Ad-Aware it says that it can't remove some of it, and will I let it after the next reboot? But then it doesn't remove.

What should I do? D:

Hm., that's a strange one. Try scanning with HijackThis! and post the log. One of us (not me, I'll mess up your computer) should be able to tell you what to remove.

The last computer I cleaned up was so full of spy ware it couldn't be removed. Every time I would delete it would re-appear. Ended up reformatting.

Right. I've got a bit of a spyware problem. I've run Spybot and Adaware multiple times, and it keeps coming up with new problems.

(Adaware keeps stalling someone in the 30000s too -- I don't know why.)

Anyway. I keep getting all these popups from searchmiracle.com, and I don't know why or how. I'm only browsing PPT and Neopets at the moment, and they'll just appear without me even clicking. I walked away for about 5 minutes and about 10 of them appeared >.>

Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: *twitch* So. The things I thought had gone.... aren't. I just rebooted -- my internet homepage is set to searchmiracle.com, my Google toolbar has disappeared again and is now 'EliteToolbar', and I'm getting links on random words. And these popups won't go away! I feel like I'm playing Advert Attack >_______<

Gone, forever.

Edit: Thank you! I'm going to rescan and post it as a thread, hoping that's alright.

Driver Error! :x

I'm going nuts. I've checked my hardware profile - everything looks like it's working fine. Also gone through each part with the driver wizard - no new drivers, get a message that 'this device is working properly'.

I've uninstalled Flash and Shockwave and re-installed both - on the Macromedia site both tests are fine and they both work in the games there.

I keep getting 2 things happening:

1 - I'll be playing certain games on neo and the entire computer just locks up, so c/a/d, end process, reboot (if I don't reboot and just sign back onto the internet it just keeps happening) - Meerca Chase, Petpet Sitter, Carnival of Terror especially this happens with.

2 - out of nowhere my computer will shut down and restart. Then I get an Error box "The system has recovered from a serious error". I've sent the error reports - they come back saying it's a driver - but not which one!

The error signature has alot of BCCode, BCP, OSVer, SP, then Product:768_1 (if you need those other numbers, I'll post them)

I've looked in the Error Report Contents, cound the c:\Docume~1\myname~1\Locals~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

It shows the hardware stuff, not anything software, but the Microsoft Error Report Page on the internet says it could be a software driver. Software has drivers?

Can anyone help?

AMD Athlon 1800+, Kyro Hercules Graphics, 1 gig DDR, 80 Gig HD, 90% resources free, On Dial Up :(, only external is Visioneer Scanner which has updated driver from site ... I don't know what else you'd need. Oh IE6, WinXP SP1, all other security updates except SP2 - which I don't think has anything to do with this problem.

Programs: Flash, Shockwave, PSP7, Spybot, ad-aware, CWshredder, HijackThis, SpywareBlaster, NeroStartSmart burning software, MGI Photosuite III Platinum, McAfee A/V, Stinger, Yahoo IM (not toolbar), AOL9 (not security edition - just 9) and the normal Microsoft office stuff

Yes, I've run all my anti-spyware and a/v and nothing's showing up. But something's wrong, obviously.

Oh, one other weirdness - if I right click to save a picture? I can only choose .art or .bmp unless it's an animated gif, no matter what the format is (jpg, regular gif, png). There's nothing in my d/l programs that says damaged or unknown.

Help? I'm so sick of these spontaneous computer shut-downs and lock-ups. Thanks
