Problems deleting files.

Tue Feb 12, 2008 8:24 pm

I am having problems deleting some files on my system. On my Local C: Drive I have a folder with Users (I think everyone has this with windows), and it has folders and files from previous accounts I had on my laptop. But I can delete them! My account is an administrator account on my computer, but it always says I don't have permission. I dont know my password for the actual administrator user account, so I cant get on there to do it. But I should be able to delete it from my account?

Im running Windows Vista.

Thanks

You could try going to the start menu and clicking on your avatar under an admin account. From there you should be able to manage another account and try to change the other admin password. As an admin you should be able to manage the user accounts in there, but I don't think you can delete them from there.

Although, because it's vista, and they're so into security stuff... you may just have to wait till your next reinstall.

I partition my computer... put all my files onto the partition, then format the windows one. That way, you can have a fresh puter and still keep all your cool files.

erg! I just tried removing my own password, and it comes up with: "windows cannot remove the password. password and/or account policies require the account to have a password."

I don't understand. Well in the account list there is only Jonny and Guest. So maybe I'm on the administrator one, but changed the name to Jonny before.
