Yeah, here's the problem with that. The website is at Geocities (If I'm assuming right by the www button) and Geocities does not support MySQL for free websites. You are going to have to go to http://www.bravenet.com for most of your things, I believe they have both a forum and a chatroom on there that you can use. Having a free website a lot of times extremely limits you in what you can and cannot do in terms of extras.

Or use YaBB, doesn't need a MySQL-database, is perl.

And instead of phpbb when you have a MySQL-database, try SMF. phpbb is slow, hard to modify (or so I've heard).
http://www.simplemachines.org . Want hacks(mods)? Just install them with the built in packet manager :P Update your board? The same way :)

actually it is neither. Anyway you might want to consider getting a remotely hosted invision/phpbb board somewhere (i don't have any links)...

You can get a free PhpBB2 forum offsite from http://www.forumer.com. They host at:

accessname.7.forumer.com
accesname.999.org

And some other urls but I cant remember. Forumer is nice, easy to install and has a nice easy to use admin panel. I have forum there, you can see it in my sig.

You could always do it the hard way too, set it up yourself. Not very hard, get an alternative server, download a forum, upload it and follow the instructions, then just link there from your site.

if he/she had an alternative server, why would he/she use geocities?

Maybe because its easier to update webpages? Some servers make you upload HTML files, so you'll have to create them on WordPad if you dont have some kind of program. Meh, just a suggestion..

http://www.bravenet.com/

^ Is good for the beginners and doesn't require a whole lot. If I remember correctly though most of the stuff is hosted at Bravenet so you may have to deal with some advertising...

http://www.invisionfree.com or http://www.proboards.com do good free boards. You used to be able to download invisionfree to put on your website for fre, but I think they stopped that.
If you have a p2p client, someone will probably have put a version up.
