DVD decoding

I have a DVD-ROM drive on my computer, and recently the decoder wouldn't work on it. I don't know how or why that happened. I tried using the online help for the DVD player, but it doesn't seem useful. Does anyone know where I can find a decoder online, preferably in the not-paying price range? Either that or how I might be able to fix the old decoder?

Hmm....well, I'm pretty sure it's against the law to download DVD decoders off the net for free, so my best suggestion would be to email the company that made the DVD drive. They might be able to offer better support.
