The Virgin Suicides

Fri Sep 21, 2007 1:07 am

I just read The Virgin Suicides and I have to say that the prose is just beautiful. It's this amazing mix of dark humor and heartbreak. Definitely not for younger readers, though. My suitemate lent it to me and I could hardly put it down. Has anyone else read it? I've always loved the movie but I loved the book even more.

i do have to say that the virgin suicides is one of my faavourites. Its that wonderful style of writing that it's set in which I love and which made me read it for two days straight. I would agree that someone my age shouldn't be reading it but seeing as every book for people my age just bore me to death I go for the more mature books nowadays.
Jeffrey Eugeunides other books such as middlesex are also just as brilliant, but The virgin suicides as I've said before is one of my favourites.

I thought the movie was good, the only thing that annoyed me though was Kirsten Dunst, but then again Im not a fan of hers so that might explain why......

I liked the movie, but I absolutely loved the book. I don't know why I liked it so much, it's just funny but also dark at the same time. Something about it just feels so...magical.
