Books that weirded you out

What books did you find just...weird?
The two that I always remember as decidedly odd are Coraline by Neil Gaiman and Eva by Peter Dickinson. I wonder if it's a coincidence that in both cases, the title is the name of the young female protagonist.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I stopped reading it :P

Lord of the Flies for sure. When Piggy gets crushed by the boulder, I was totaly disgusted and horrified by it, but my whole class was gleeful. It was just such a creepy experience.

Slaughterhouse-Five for just being plain old weird.

Burroughs and stuff.

Gosh, I haven't thought about that book in a long time. I remember it making me feel a bit weird too... it was certainly a book that sucked you in :)

OMG, I love Neil Gaiman. American Gods was amazing, although... some parts were very disturbing. Ditto for Coraline. I wonder what the movie is going to look like. So far, the adaptation of Stardust looks beautiful.

I was EXTREMELY creeped out by both The Stand and The Shining by Stephen King. The concept of a dead world just gave me the shivers. The Shining's topiaries and ghosts... bah. Scary scary stuff.

Keep Sweet ~ David Perin. It's about the Bountiful polygamy colony. It was absolutely not a feel good book. Interesting, but it just made me feel awful. Very hard to read. (I recomend it, but it's not for the faint of heart).

Wolves of Time 2, Seekers at the Wolf Rock - William Horwood - I'm not sure why this book now weirds me out. I love it, but it's just sorta heart breaking. He ends the book off by saying how all the chars die off, and it's heart wrenching.

This book called Time Windows. I read it when I was younger and it really creeped me out.

I find plenty of books disturbing, such as 1984, but that's in a good way.

I'm also disturbed by how crappy Eragon is. :D

American Psycho. Very graphic descriptions.

Cat's Cradle was increadibly bizarre, but good. That's the only one I can really think of, but I'll add more if they come to me.

hm, i need to read that.. the movie was pretty much the most bizarre thing i've ever seen, so i can't imagine what the book is like.

by the way, your sig is probably the best thing ever.
i mean, "COME ONNN!"

as for me - honestly, the giver creeped me out when i was little. it was just so strange, haha, and then the end was just depressing.

I loved American Gods! Although there were a few parts that creeped me out. The Shining had some parts that really freaked me out too. I love them anyway. :P

lol thanks. If it wasn't for Blamey, I would so marry Gob.

As for American Psycho, I only saw parts of the movie, and it doesn't come close to the graphic-ness of the book. Obiviously I can't actually describe it here, but I found it very disturbing. ::shudders::

my research books are not for the faint of heart. I've been studying haunting and the paranormal most of my life. I plan to write a book in a few years over haunted places (I havent chosen a place to focus on yet). My bookself is loaded with books of hauntings and and everything inbetween. I cant bring myself to read them before bed or when I'm home alone. I get very jumpy.
