Looking for a book

I'm thinking of a certain book it was kind of fantasy-ish. All I remember is that these people were looking for some kind of doorway thing and it ended up being a statue/doorway/wall thing of an angel at some exhibition, and that when they went through it they met an angel who gave them wine.

Anyone know of the book I'm talking about?

Blasted thing left itself open for a sequel but never made one. Those are the best books. Irritating, but don't sully themselves.
