Rugby World Cup 07

Thu Sep 06, 2007 7:57 am

So the Rugby World Cup 2007 starts tomorrow with the All Blacks being touted as the favourites. Are you going to be watching the RWC and who will you be supporting? Do the All Blacks deserve to be favourites? Who do you think will win.
Let's get talking rugby fans (If there are any)

Never really got into watching rugby games on TV - it all looked a bit repetitive, and I guess I'll never appreciate the beauty of watching the game, but I loved playing it in PE :D Alas, apparently 6th formers don't need any exercise, and any sports or anything are banned because "free periods" are actually "study periods". They're completely happy with us sitting around in the 6th form area doing jack-all but as soon as we whip out the football, we're being naughty boys, and should have our ball confiscated (and the teacher lost it one time and had the cheek to tell us it was our fault for getting it confiscated in the first place.)

What started of as on-topic, spiralled into an off-topic rant.. sorry. :-/

Haha don't worry about it Raz, I know the pain too well the teachers wouldn't let us play sports in our free periods when I was in Sixth form either, but as you said they were happy enough for us to be in the common room, doing nothing.

Ellam - You're right the All Blacks have a very good chance of winning, they haven't been as good as pervious years this year in my opinion but it doesn't look like anyone is capable of playing as well as they do. Englands performance yesterday was a bit of a let down. The American team are mostly amateur and the best they could do was 28-10. Either the USA have improved in ways I can't imagine or something was very wrong yesterday. Hope you are lucky enough to watch a match though, do let us know.

Wales' first match today and I'm predicting a win for us over Canada, a closer result than many people expect though.

Good match though. Wales beat Canada 47-17. Close first half where Wales were trailing by 3 points. All of us in the pub looked quite worried at that point.

Yaaaay we all went to the park and played rugby with a football! Every one of us went back with at least one bruise, which we never even got in PE xD

EDIT: zomg I watched England vs. France - I thought it was pretty boring at the beginning but in the last 10 minutes my heart was pounding like crazy! Yaaaaay for England!

Unlucky for England, as a Welshman who's been abused by England fans for Wales' poor performance I may be able to make something from this situation =:0)

I do admit that, and I'll also admit it would have been nice for England to have retained the world cup.

I missed the first few minutes of each half, but I did see England give away those two penalties pretty stupidly. Also I saw England pushing for ages, and then one nice kick from South Africa undid all that, which was a shame.

Did smile when Montgomery was pushed into that camera though :)

I also think it would have been great if england had won that cup again. Really :(
