Down by Law's cover of "500 Miles"
Joey Ramone's cover of "What A Wonderful World"
Shonen Knife's cover of "Top of the World"

I know it's blasphemy but I kinda prefer Save Ferris' version of "Come on Eileen" over Dexy's Midnight Runners'

Ooh, and not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet, but the song Hallelujah, originally by Leonard Cohen, is COVERLICIOUS.

I've got 19 covers of it in iTunes- and the original, of course, even though said original SUCKS LIKE A SUCKY THING.

There's dozens and dozens of covers of the song, which can easily be found online, but I only get the covers I like- I'm a picky collector, unfortunately.

My current favorite is Allison Crowe's version- listening to it gives me chills.

can't find the sig from this set, so instead, you get a <3 .

Nothing quite beats Jonathan Coulton's version of "Baby Got Back"
And Richard Cheese's "Gin and Juice" for that matter.

Alanis Morisette did a HILARIOUS cover of "My Humps" by The Black-Eyed Peas. Search for it on Youtube.

The Kooks' cover of Crazy is pretty awesome. And Mark Ronson's recent single Stop Me. Love that.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but I loved Cyanna's & Scintilla's rendition of King of Spain! :)

YES. It sounds so different, but it's still great.

I also like Rufus Wainwright's Hallelujah. And Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's version of Fanfare for the Common Man. If that counts. :P

haha, i tend to enjoy britney spears covers.. like nickel creek's "toxic" (the most fun thing ever live) and travis' "baby one more time" - they're both just too much fun, no lie.

hmm, among other things.. rosie thomas' "songbird" and "the one i love" are great, rufus wainwright's "across the universe" really does give me chills, even if it is an almighty beatles cover, haha. the secret machines' "immer wieder" is AMAZING. aaand i'm a huge fan of seu jorge's covers of david bowie songs in portuguese from the life aquatic. oh my, it's grand.

and lest i forget - nickel creek's covers of "spit on a stranger" and "tomorrow is a long time" are just great, love those guys and all their covers. :]

Green Day's cover of John Lennon's Working Class Hero. And what's really cool is that the profits go to Amnesty International.

Its off the Darfur album as well... but REM's version of #9 Dream is gorgeous.

I almost want to say that I like Fiona Apple's version of "Across the Universe" more than the Beatles... but that is blasphemy. :)
