I always thought that was an ugly color.

They aren't referring to the color

To abandon or isolate with little hope of ready rescue or escape

It's personal to Adam (lead singer), so I'm guessing it has something to do with Jane. They haven't really explained their name. They want to keep at least one thing a secret. (That's what Adam said at an interview).

Ok I admit it, I like the whole song except for all the "She Will Be Loved"s and the first and last verses.

You can barely hear "that" in that sentance...and what is compromise anyway?
