Eurovision Song Contest

Sat May 12, 2007 1:50 pm

It's that time of year again. The Eurovision song contest is back with a vengence tonight and once again the UK has a crap song.
Seriously, if the UK breaks out of the bottom 10 it will be incredibly wrong for once.

I hope that the Ukraine wins, mainly because they have a BRILLIANT song!

Oh, and all contest entries can be found (legally) here.

Boo to Eurovision, I'd rather have my Doctor Who!

Of course, this could mean I actually get some revision done tonight...

I love Eurovision! :D

It's FUNNY.

I guess our entry this year has to be better than that bloke in his late 20s singing about 'Teenage Life'. PAEDO! :P

& we'll get 12 points from the Irish anyway.

Dismal.

"We're flying the flag,
we started a war,
we're flying the flag
for you"

"Welcome aboard the first and only Scooch Flight. You'll be served by two flagrant homosexuals and two mediocre-looking women, in flight attendant outfits that have somehow been so ill-made they don't actually look sexy."

Vote UK.

Thanks, Latvia!

*cough* I actually know one of the members of Scooch. All I can say is, she took a bit of a step down when she quit the West End...

Seriously, that should win an award.

And which member do you know Twinkle? Blonde or Brunette?

Sat May 12, 2007 3:38 pm

Brunette. :) She went to my dance school for years, she was one of the greatest sucess stories we had really. She's been in loads of musicals like Cats and Starlight Express and so on. I still have videos of her dancing in shows from when I was tiny.

I love how Scooch are so camp and cheesy. I'd be more embarrassed if we entered a serious song into the "competition". Might as well get into the humour of the thing because we'll never win.

Exactly. 'Best' entry we've had for years.

Should've been Mozza.

I always cringe with awkwardness when I see a UK act take it all so seriously. Obviously Scooch have no such scruples about sending themselves up and it's hilarious. Who wants a credible song when we can just take the mick out of Euro-pop instead?!

I'm definitely watching it tonight, Terry Wogan's commentary just makes the entire thing for me.

Well duh.

Damn right about Terry, Helen. I'll be sitting there with me alcohol giggling away. I love how some other European countries take it DEAD seriously.

Terry Wogan + Eurovision = God.

Don't get too bladdered watching it, Iggs, you want to be able to remember it tomorrow...:)

Has anyone seen the episode of Father Ted when they enter the contest with the song "My Lovely Horse"? It's one of my favourites. :)

Sat May 12, 2007 5:57 pm

TV tonight is fantastically camp. It's fantastic.

You think Graham Norton's camp, wait until you see the crossdresser the Ukraine have sent.

Yeah, it's weird seeing how seriously some countries take it. The thing is, some of the serious entries are actually pretty good (e.g. Serbia unless she screws up tonight).

What are the odds a country from the Eastern Bloc will win?
