PPT Top 30 Countdown [Week 5]

Sat Mar 17, 2007 5:37 am

Welcome to the PPT Top 30 Countdown! Each Friday PPTers will be able to vote on their favourite songs to reach the number one spot on the countdown!

<hr>
How To Participate

First off, there will be a chart posted every Friday and you can vote for a song to move up or down on the Countdown. You may also recommend any song by any artist/band.

The code to voting will look like the following,

Code:
I'd like [b](Insert Band/Artist) - (Insert the corresponding song)[/b] to move up in the Countdown.
I'd like [b](Insert Band/Artist) - (Insert the corresponding song)[/b] to move down in the Countdown.
I'd like to recommend [b](Insert Band/Artist) - (Insert corresponding song)[/b]

If you just want to recommend a song, you may leave out the other parts. Just post whatever one applies to you.

After a week, I will tally the votes and a Countdown will be made.

FAQ

These are general questions which I'm sure some of you may have,

Does the artist/band have to sing in English?

No.

Does the song have to be from this year?

No.

Can I recommend something from the 60's?

Yes, there is no limit to what you can request.

How do you determine the positions on the Countdown?

I'll look at the votes and make a general Countdown. If you don't like it, simply vote again.

What genre's are allowed on the Countdown?

Any.

When is the Countdown posted?

Friday's.

They have to be singles, right?

Nope, but there will be a 3 song limit on each artist/band (On the actual Countdown; you can request the artist/band as many times as you want). I don't want the Countdown to be filled of songs by only few artists/bands.

Can we request more than one artist/band?

Yes.

How will only 30 be chosen?

I will post all the songs and you will able to vote for a certain amount of songs (The number isn't yet determined). After everyone has voted, I will post the chart next Friday and the Countdown will officially begin then.

Once the first official Countdown is posted, I will move the songs up and down accordingly and I'll try to be as fair and unbiased as possible.

For reference, can we "spend" two of our downs...or ups...on the same song?

Nope, sorry.

How does getting new songs in the countdown work?

They'll be placed in a random generator and the lucky ones who get chosen will enter the Countdown.

However, songs who are recommended by more than one person have a higher chance of entering the Countdown than those songs who are recommended by one user.

Do we have to rerecommend the unlucky songs who don't enter the Countdown or will they stay in the random generator and might be chosen by it next time?

Keep re-recommending them. The more people who re-recommend the same song, the higher chance it has to enter the Countdown.

Wait, is moving up placing higher in the Countdown, or is it placing lower?

This is a prime example of how the Countdown works,

Moving Up = Placing higher in the Countdown.

Example,

I vote for Evanescence - Lithium to move up in the Countdown.

Result,

Last week Evanescence - Lithium was #12, this week Evanescence - Lithium is at #11.

Moving Down = Placing lower in the Countdown.

Example,

I vote for Evanescence - Lithium to move up in the Countdown.

Result,

Last week Evanescence - Lithium was #12, this week Evanescence - Lithium is at #13.

Can we vote for songs that have just been recommended, or does it have to be on the chart on the front page?

You can only votes for the songs that are on the chart.

How do new songs get selected to be added to the Countdown?

If a song has managed to fall off the Countdown, all the songs which were recommended in the previous round will be randomized and one will be selected to enter the Countdown.

If a song is covered by more than one artist can we just write "Various Artists"?

No; you must specify an artist/band. And it must be an actual song of theirs, as in, if it's a cover of a song it must be on a record or album of the artists/band.

After creating "Versus", I felt as if another trend should be introduced. This is just to pick up some forum participation on PPT; it's a fun activity.

Post any other questions you may have.

As of right now, start voting for your favourite artists/bands to move up in the Countdown!
