Which Trek Are You On?

Fri Mar 24, 2006 1:03 am

Yay! Another Star Trek poll. This one is a little harder. Which series is your favorite?

I have a hard time with this one. Kirk rules. No one is cooler than Data. Sisko is great. Janeway was fun. Archer had Trip.

I settle on Next Generation since I like Data and Worf a lot. Q was fun too.

Next Generation. Hands down.

Voyager for the win! Shooting our way home :D

Noooooo... why must you make such hard polls?! :P

Well... I picked Voyager, DS9 was next, then Next Gen.... but still.... so hard! They're basically all in the same category.

(And Voyager went first because it was the first Trek series I ever saw :P )

Yes this was a very hard one to pick...

I went old school for the original. I maybe showing my age on this one, but growing up with these was awesome. Voyager was next on my list...

Definitely a tough choice. How is it I have never heard of an Animated series? Is this because I only get basic cable (23 channels)??
Anyway -- Worf all the way!

For those that also have never heard of their animated adventures: Click here. Not the best source since it is Wiki, but good enough for an overview.

TOS: Oh heck no. Not even Nostalgia saves this.

TNG: It got a bit.. samey.

Voyager: I hated ahlf the crew and wished they would die. But none-the-less some awesome Episodes (Scorpian, Year of Hell, End game!!!!1!111!!)

Enterprise: ... Well. It had a grand vision. Temporal cold war was cool.

Animated: just. No.

So that leaves DS9.
the best of the best.
No two ways about it.

It was Star trek, but it was Star trek in a galaxy at war.
I like DS9 For the same reason I like Transformers.
This was not a picnic, you didn't go there to tickle your foes, you went to kill them.

The taking of AR558, "Sacrifice of Angels" and the episode that followed (drawing a blank on the nameo_O :( (Ho. ly. Hand baskets.) and ofcourse "what you leave behind"
So many strands, so much death. So beautiful.

When the war began I used to read every casualty report. I felt it was the least I could do. Now the names just blurr together.*

And Siskos speach after Garek kills the Romulan ambassador to get them into the war.

I lied, I cheated, I am an accessory to murder and I did all this to bring an entire species into a war they may not survive.
But the damndest thing of all? I think I can live with myself. *

* - Qoutes are from my poor memory, I'll replace them ASAP with the proper ones, but that is the gist of what was said.

Deep Space Nine without question. All of the series had their great moments, but I felt Deep Space Nine was the most consistent of them all. I love how 'real' the characters felt, how the stories were great alone but even better in arcs, and of course . . . Kukalaka.

No but really, Deep Space Nine had something about it that we don't see on television these days at all. It confronted important issues, maintained a great cast of characters, had great plots but also awesome special effects. And, of course, the relationships they built between all of the characters. Bashir and O'Brien. Bashir and Garak. Odo and Quark. You get my point.

Don't get me wrong - I love all the series, and they all have their great hours and not-so-great. And a lot of them got many of the aforementioned aspects in their shows as well - but not as good, or not with the others. There was not a weak cast member on Deep Space Nine, and I believe that in each of the other series there was someone who maybe wasn't great, but didn't get anything to do. Honestly, what do you remember of Hoshi doing in Season 4 of Enterprise?

Exactly. They're all great, but Deep Space Nine tops them all.

I went with TNG just because I love the Worf/Diana that they never gave us but I so wanted them to at the very end, and also because when I was 8 years old, I was engaged to Wesly Crusher and was going to marry him forever and whatnot.

Hurray for reruns :)

Next Generation. I've followed Voyager, because that was what was on UPN at a reasonable hour, but the episodes of Next Generation I've seen are so much more memorable (excepting the episode involving Balanna getting psychic transmissions from an old woman with a genocidal father).

Oh, and the movie First Contact was freakin' awesome.

First contact?
DS9 Unnoficial trailer

And Sacrifice of Angels, but the link to that is in T'other thread.

edit:

I'll leave it to Quark to sum up the Federation for me.

“I’ll tell you something about human’s nephew. They’re a wonderful, friendly people… But take away their creature comforts, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time. And those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people become as nasty, and as vile as the most bloodthirsty Klingon.”

I liked the Next Generation best. Mostly because I get to see episodes every night. :D
And The Original Series right after that, because of Spock. Especially in that one movie, The Voyage Home. I still don't know why I loved that movie so much.

I never saw the other series.
